Why so many lightly used 2011's for sale?

Seems to be a number of 2011 GasGas bikes for sale after less than 20-30 hrs on them. Most of them have revalved suspension and lots of add on's. Is there something wrong with them or what? Usually don't see so many new model bikes for sale so fast, especially with the amount of work/money thrown into them. Just wondering if something is up. I have been under a rock lately so I may have missed something.

I am wondering the same thing.... Folks who buy the bike new, revalve, get some bolt on goodies, then sell it right away. I guess there will always be a bike or two that is in this case, but I too have seen very many. Is the 300 punkin' wooing them I wonder???:confused::confused:

I think a lot of them were sold under the racer support program and they got delayed billing from GGOR. The bikes are coming due ($$) and the riders are trying to sell them before they have to pay for them.

I know that is the case with at least 2 of the 2011s listed for sale right now.

that is kind of a humorous topic to me because if you've ridden the 2010's and 2011's compared to the ktms they are all and more what they should be(including there price point). trust me there is nothing wrong with the 11's and the only thing ktm is wooing would be the die hards that refuse to try something new.

Who said anything about KTM????

I haven't had the pleasure of riding the new ones, hence the question.

Hell, anyone who has ever rode any year GasGas can tell you they handle 10 times better than a KTM. Fit and finish was a little shady, but that seems to have been worked on over the years. Nothing like sheet metal screws going into plastic gas tanks to keep the shrouds on.

How is the red frame holding up???

My Yamaha blue frame drives me effing nutz with all the wear spots that rust if I forget to WD40 it. I swore my next bike would be an aluminum frame so I don't have to deal with it.

I've noticed that and wondered the same thing....I myself couldn't be happier with my 11 300. I was down at Dirt Bike Supply today and was looking at the 300 six days that Rob from Synergy Seals bought and is waiting on delivery.
The bike had a brand new FMF pipe on it, had been revalved by several different susp. tuners and the guy that bought it new just couldn't come to grips with the suspension. I would love to ride one of his bikes that he thinks is "set up" like he likes it. I haven't done anything to my 300 yet and when I was riding it a couple of weeks ago, I was impressed at how it was handling the roots and rocks in stock form.

I really can't see the KTM wooing the riders away. I think the economy is the biggest influence. I saw on KTMTalk where one guy had just taken possession of a 2012 300xc and immediately put it up for sale because he was getting so much heat from his wife for buying it...

Me? I'm keepin' mine!!!!:D

Yeah, once it's in my truck, she can bitch all she wants......it's done.

Congrats on your bike, sexiest dirt bike on the planet. Best handling too.

This is probably the main reason.

Scotty, where is Kearney????????? LOL

I've been riding a long time and have had lots of bikes of all kinds. My '11 EC300 is my first Gas Gas and it's by far...hands down the nicest bike I've ever ridden and I have enough time on it to be sure.

the fit and finish of the old bikes was something to be desired for sure but i was comparing the thread title(2011's) to the 2011 pumpkin comment. this years bikes are awesome though. ive put 2 of my riding buddies on them this year and they both could not be happier. the price point over ktm and the quickness of the gasser are just stellar in my mind. scottys comments sound reasonable though and if that is the case(with the racers selling them) then a few guys out there are going to get killer deals! everytime i see one up i think wow thats a smokin deal for a virtually new 300!

Oh, so for $6000 or whatever the newly used race program '11's are going for you can get a new one for just a few bucks more.. The original racer most likely eats the hop up parts he put in plus the labor on the revalve.

If I bought one of those '11 race program bikes, I would venture to guess that I would be looking at a top end, clutch plates, brake pads, tires, chain and sprockets, grips, maybe bars, levers, maybe plastic, rejetting, and probably a revalve because I would most likely hate someone else's valving preferences..... Caveat Emptor!! :D

I didn't know they had the race program, "get now, pay later"...now that you guys pointed that out, I see what is happening. See! I learn something new every day.

Trev, I'm thinking the same thing about how a great a deal those are. That is why I asked the question. LOL. Almost too good to be true.

Damn I wish I hadn't bought that 6x12 enclosed trailer.......or the motorhome in May.......but those purchases had to be done to keep my wife's mouth shut on the way to and during races. She has nothing to bitch about anymore....A/C and a toilet/shower whenever she wants it. LOL!!

Hopefully I'll have a kick ass month soon so I can finish off the year of spending insanity in style with one of these killer deals....I need a race bike. The WR is just my working trail/vacation in the mountains bike. 2 strokes are for racing.

Chris.
The 2011 bikes are light years ahead of what you had.

Most of the fasteners have captive nuts, no more using a backup wrench.
Build quality and attention to detail has greatly improved.

Like any bike, you have to fine tune it to your liking. This creates a bond between you and the bike.:D

I just bought a lightly used 11 xc300 on the classifieds and so far I'm happy. Raced it once bone stock and now I'm just trying to find time to finish my mods and race it. Works takin over right now. This being the only real gg classified makes it feel like guys are giving them up I think. The same things happening with any other new bike out there just more wide spread. I never buy new bikes so I'm not complaining. Looking forward to the national hare scramble and indiana national enduro to see how it does.

The 2011 gas gas EC300 is a dream bike!
- if you can't come to grips with the suspension i will suggest talking to Dave at Single Track Mind suspension- he is a magician with the gas gas! Maybe you are seeing more for sale now because there are so many more of them in the US as compared to previous years due to the great guys importing them now. If i wrecked mine beyond repair i would buy another in a heartbeat!

Girard,
Sent my Entry for Caney Creek off today. Do what you can to get me on an early row. Please!!!!!! LOL

No need to sell me on a GasGas. I've had an 05 EC250 and raced the shit out of it. I like em'. The only thing that will keep me from another GasGas is a $2000 dollar lightly used 2006 and newer YZ250 with the good KYB forks. Yamaha's have been rock solid for me. Pretty much set with GasGas and Yamaha from here on out. I will probably bitch about it not turning like a GasGas and not having a 6th gear or the sweet pull of the AJP clutch, but the kickstand won't break my shin if I look at it, and the frame won't need oiling.....If I have to spend more, I will just get what I really want, 2010+ GasGas. Not too crazy about the Sachs stuff though, prefer Ohlins/Zoke combo. I know Shaggy can tune those up pretty good. He will always be my suspension tuner. He is like a witchdoctor.

See ya in a few weeks Girard. Might bring some food for you if I'm on an early row.......Ha.

Girard, are you riding this Caney Creek or working?
i had really wanted to try it this year, just to do. with all the time off with the arm, looks like I will be working another one. I need to get out with you guys and see if I can still make it though the forest.
Rob
