Why so many lightly used 2011's for sale?

Rob,
Ride with me. I can't find anybody that isn't already on a row or who isn't chicken of the heat(Robbie). Write on your entry that you want to ride with Blanco. That way I can hit you in head after 20 miles and leave you with my WR and ride your 300 the rest of the race:D

Seriously, I don't know you (I think), but if your friends with Girard, then you can ride with me.

One more thing to think about......there seems to be alot more bikes sold in the past couple years that years previous, so that, combined with the race program, it makes more sense that a greater percentage of them would show up for sale. i cant say that bothers me, because i know i would love to get my hands one a new bike!

It just blows me away that they are so low hours. My 2010 limited edition isnt even 12 months on yet and has way more hours on it. In saying that you notice alot of what is being advertised for sale is also being rebought.

I know I'd just about consider selling mine if I could get a good price on a 2012..

If I had to guess round numbers, I would imagine that there were less than 70 2010 GasGas' brought into the US.

Thanks to Clay's efforts and the updates made at the factory there were many multiples of that imported for 2011.

It's not a question of whether guys are selling '11s - the real question is how many guys that had them will be buying '12s.

In the meantime, all of the guys with '01s and '03s should be rejoicing - they can get into a nearly new bike and find out what everybody that has one is raving about.

I had a 11 sixdays and I sold it. I could NOT come to terms with the forks. Also the GG had less top end power than my KTM.

So I am one of those guys that wont be buying a 2012 GG

Another issue could be the economy. Say you go out and buy a new bike, then get laid off or your hours get cut back. Now you can't afford to ride it OR pay for it. On the classifieds it goes.... I've seen that happen around here...

The economy, race program, and increase in imported/sold bikes probably all have a hand in it. Also people new to the brand that purchase a bike based on hype doesn't always work out. Meaning they want it to be dynamite out of the box and it maybe, just not for them and they have no desire to hang around.

It's funny really how setup, and bike to bike performance can very. I have a 2010 GG 300 the forks were shaky and the jetting was horrid. I revalved the forks myself and fixed the jetting. Now the forks feel better than anything I've ridden and I would say the motor runs better than any KTM 300 I've ridden with gobs more top end power. I was on the other end of the spectrum with KTM, just got tired of trying to get it to work. So sometimes all the fiddling doesn't make it better for you.

Cheers,

Rick

It's still in your signature and your nickname. Couldn't have been all that bad.:D

I just looked on the used bike posts. One is from a guy with a wrist injury. One is from a friend of mine who has decided that his kids are more important than racing right now (I agree). Two are from dealers who have used bikes that we loaned them for the 24 hour race or to support a rider from their dealership. One is from a guy who just could not come to grips with the forks. The rest are from racers we have supported who are tired of me saying "Sell your old bike!"
More bikes in the field equal more used bikes. BTW....I have a 2010 Nambo for sale. $6500. :)

Where do you live/ride? I know where I ride, I'm not getting to the "top end" of my 300....guess I need mo huevos to see if I got mo "top end"....

Life is really a trade off....The GG 300 handles but lacks top end and the KTM has top end and lacks handling....sad ain't it.:D:rolleyes:

Im the guy with the wrist injury. I bought the bike after I broke my wrist thinking I would be back up to speed by now. Bike has been sitting in garage since mid july. I havnt even ridden it down the street yet. Bummed that I am getting rid of it but am not able to ride without autoclutch for awhile. My Husky WR 300 already has one in it. Don't want to spend a grand for a recluse.

Couldn't a different pipe/jetting attain the top end that is desired? I know my EC250 had some nice pull at the top once I got it jetted to my specs. It's a 2 stroke, you should be able to tune it the way you want pretty easily. That what I like about 2 strokes.

When I was working for KTM one of our sales guys broke a bone. He was really worried that he would be in trouble. Rod Bush told him "Dirt bikes are dangerous. Get well!"
Stuff like that happens in our world. Hope you get up to speed soon.
I miss Rod!

I hated to sell my 2011 250!! best bike ive ridden to date,i also hurt my knee in oct and thought it would heal on its own..it hasnt and i took the year off...getting it looked at monday finally, ill probably buy a 2012 mid year anyway..

Broken bones are part of it! Hell, I broke my tailbone on Jan 1st this year. Still hurts as I type this. That is why I'm just getting ready this summer. I broke my foot on a stump so bad in 2006 that I had surgery twice and was on crutches for 4 months. I was leading B Vet in TSCEC Sabine and BJEC that year with 2 races to go when I hit that hidden stump practicing. Talk about a depressing winter. 2 weeks after I got off crutches I ran the 2007 National at Barnwell Mtn. I don't know if I'm dumb or brave. Fine line sometimes. However, everything heals up in time, and if you are passionate about dirtbikes, you can't stay away. That is a fact. There are thousands of riders with the same story out there. So take care of ya'll injuries and we'll see you back out on the trail.

Oh, and I highly recommend AFLAC supplemental insurance. Both income and accident policy. $100 a month for me. Just don't get hurt in an organized race;) They pay on time with no bull, that saved me in 2006.

As far as the top end goes , I'm curious if you got one of the 300's with a 36mm carb. I understand that may affect top end . Thats why RB bores the 38's to 39mm I'm told , to increase top end.

It was unfortunate that gasgas sent out bikes with two different carbs without telling anybody. Hope it doesn't have too much of a back lash.

I don't get how some people just expect everything to be right for them out of the crate. I mean jeez, how long have you been into this sport? So you don't like how the fork works, or how the power is distributed, and sell the bike for a big loss instead of having it tuned or learning to do it yourself?
