08 EC 300 Stalling when hot

Hi,

My 300 has been stalling lately when hot and riding slower, tight single track mostly. Usually first couple hours it runs great, and has ran perfectly all day riding faster single track. Only when tight 1st, 2nd gear steep stuff does it die out on me. I have done the following:

JD Jet Kit
Clean air filter
adjusted idle
new spark plug
clean gas always, mixed 50:1

Should I adjust air screw?

The puzzling part is how well it runs at the start and riding slightly faster stuff. Stalls mostly on downhills...

Thoughts much appreciated. pic attached just for fun...

Mine does the same thing (wanting to stall going down hills), but I haven't gotten around to working on the problem. I was told by some fellow 2 strokers to check my float height, so I'm going to start there. I'll check the powervalve too now.

My thoughts exactly to check float height.

Thanks guys, power valve is fine as I did a full rebuild 40 hours ago. Plus it runs fine for the first few hours which makes me think it's not one of those two issues... Anything else you can think of? I thought maybe it's just the idle screw slowly turning itself out so I have tried just adjusting that just in case. Not sure what else to do. Cheers,

Mike.

The angle the carb sits in the bike leans it forward towards the engine. Have a look in my lectron thread and you'll see with a clear bowl that the angle that the fuel sits. Add in the factor for the whole bike leaning forwards (ie downhill) and a few bumps, and its easy to have the engine load up enough to stall out. You can improve it by dropping the fuel level some, but you don't want to get to a point where there isn't enough fuel in the bowl for extended WOT situations.

At the end of the ride often the airfilter is also a bit dirtier and creates a slight richer condition which also contributes.
