'11 Six days or '13 300R

Hello all,
I'm in the market for a gas gas 300 and wondering some opinions, I know it's rather specific but what differences (good and bad) would there be between the 2011 300 Six Days and the 2013 300R. At the end of the day I would assume my wallet will be the deciding factor as both are nice bikes from what I've read.
The fact that I'm coming off a 1998 CR500R will make them both lovely bikes I'm sure!!
I'm not too worried about differences in little 'trinkety' things, more so handling and engine.
Thanks
Ned

The 2013 is a lot more bike..

13 300R vs 11 SD
48mm Closed Chamber Marzocchis vs 45mm Open Chamber Marzocchis
Updates to the engine on the 13 including a new porting profile which gives a greater spread of power.
New frame - more stable and agressive platform, slightly taller seat height than 2011. Improvements in peg clearance.

The SD will be a great trail bike and do everything well, but I think the 13 will do it a bit better. To being the forks up to the standard you're looking at an easy grand or more alone.

... You can get the 48mm Zokes on a 2011 by getting the Race version.

Tell me more about this 2013 porting change?

Very true you can, but you can't get the frame :) hahaha! At least with the 2010 models that came with Sachs forks you can drop TTX inserts in for a somewhat reasonable price.

Re port changes no idea what they have actually changed yet. I'm waiting for someone to send theirs in to TSP so he can spec it all up. When I say 'new' cylinder I'm referring to the one with the [G] stamped into the rhs.

I raced a 1996 CR500 so I know how they feel. Both of the GGs are a lot slimmer and they both are torquey but not like your old CR. Both the GGs turn great but the 2011 has a lower seat height.

Can't really tell you the difference between the 2011 and 2013, but i can rate my own 2013 300 - bloody love it!
I've been riding a 450 for the last few years and was hesitant about the 300

Took a bit of stuffing around with jetting but there now. There is definite power band on the pipe, and the suspension is beautiful - soaks up everything (hasn't been tuned yet - only 7hrs on it). I also find the steering on tight single trail fine and can't really fault the bike. I'm 6'1 so find the tall seat perfect.

Anyway, that my 2c worth :)

Is there actually all that much difference in the feel of the different forks? My CR has 15 year old forks so they practically don't work.. Which gives me very little idea in the world of suspension set up..
I've picked up a couple of trophies on my CR in pony expresses so that's what I'll be racing the GG in so I would assume both suspension set ups would make for a pleasant race? I'm just an average clubman so unless there is any huge difference in the suspension I wouldn't notice..

I had the stock 45mm zokes on my 450 and they were pretty horrible, would deflect off everything and throw the bike around. The new 48mm zokes on the 2013 are beautiful in comparison, I hit and don't feel things now that I would avoid at all costs with the old forks.

A 360 would be very nice!!
I'm looking at a few 2011 models (six days, race, elec, and nambotin) and they all say they have 48mm closed zokes... Are they trying to pull a swiftly on me or what!?

So contrary to what my wallet says, I'm going with a '13 300R as my brother wants a new EC200 so we'll hopefully cut ourselves a nice deal!
Are there any mods that anyone recommends tht I should do straight up? I'm liking the look of a power valve cover..

The Six Days and electrics were the old 45s - race and Nambo should be 48CCs. The easy identifier is the three-legged PFP adjuster in the center of the top cap on the 48s vs a stand up nut on the 45s.

This post is just to make sure that you will fly thru rocks.

So right as I'm about to lock in a '13 300R, I nice looking nambo has come up at a reasonable price (second hand of course... But still a nambo!) What's everyone think now? How would the nambo compare to a new R? It seems to be in quite reasonable condition (no pipe dings etc)

The nambo comes with Ohlins TTX? If yes, it is too cool to let go.
(But too stiff to average 140lb weekend guy)

The nambo comes with some bling and ajustable triple clamps, nice hubs, S3 engine head, footpegs... it?s a machine to consider with care.
