2001 ec 300 vs 2004 ec 300

Coming from ktm 250 xc and looking at these bikes. Both look to be well taken care of but I know nothing about history of gg improvements and issues. Any help appreciated

there are a lot smarter guys than me on here...

other than forks, i dont think there is a lot of difference between those 2 years. the 01 should have 43mm and the 04 should have 45mm..
both are good bikes. i have an 01 that has been a great bike.
parts are no big deal, the bikes are awesome, the knowledge and willing to help on here awesome..

price and condition... there are some extremly nice older gg's out there. i would venture to say my 01 has less than 100 hours on it, it was brand new when i bought it in 08.. good luck with your choice and let us know what you get..

The 2001 is 1700, the 2004 is 2800 and now a 2007 for 3000. Loved my 250xc but had to give it up. The prices seem really good on the gg's. I am 6-1" and 200 and I understand they may b a bit small? Any other input appreciated. Thanks.

07 is a much bigger change for the better over the 01/04... if you wait a month or 2, i bet you can find 07's for much less...

I ride an 01 300 its my favorite I had an 06 300 and still have an 06 250 the 01 is my favorite bike I'm a shade under 6'2" 250lbs
if the 01 is nice id buy it and save the $ for extras or gas.....

the 04 sounds kinda high, the 01 sounds about right.. if you could go up to the 07 they are the new bodied bike. i have an 01 and an 07 and the 07 is a blast.. i am 5'6" and have to lower everything a little.

I'm 6'2" and a shade under 250 pounds fully geared. I don't have a problem with power, or anything else. I'm soon to own my third GG, 2nd 250.

The 07' you can upgrade to 10/11'plastics with out changing the airbox and subframe.

I agree $2800 for an 04' is kinda high.

I just sold my 07' for $3000 but I had a few goodies on it. Along with new piston and rings.

Nothing has ever broken on me, went 3 seasons of 60+mile sundays before I replaced topend. Did need a crank oil seal once.And at some point i broke the kickstand...... Basic maintenance only for me other than that.took the engine apart this year cause i'm not riding and everything was in good shape. I know shes been my faithful friend.looking forward to riding her next year
