2012 300 Race Pics

I know, but if *I* don't ask, who will ?!?

I suppose y'all can wait a couple of months until mine arrives in Arizona...

I'm just collecting data points.

Yeah but no doubt they're going to come in all over the shop just like the rest of the bikes! :D

It does have the 38mm carb. It seems a little rich on top. I'm going to take the carb apart to check into the jetting.
Rick...what's a squish band? LOL!

The squish band is right next to the powerband I think, but not sure on the 2012 models, they might have moved it......:p

I'll check it out when I get one here soon......

I can tell you from a mfg. stanpoint they probably will never tighten that up to where you would like it to be. With fuel all over the map in different parts of the world, there would have to be too many options to make it feasable in production. All bikes are like this, not just GasGas.

Agreed. Also the same reason why bikes (& snowmobiles, when they still had carbs) usually come jetted rich from the factory. They have to run at all expected elevations & temperatures without going too lean out of the box.

It's in French, but good video footage of the EC300 Racing:

Not much content to pass on. The test rider liked the bike, he thought it was more aggressive then before and the suspension was stiffer also, but with some adjustments, got it where he liked it. Basically, the feeling I got was that if the 2011 was equal to a KTM XCW, then this one is closer to an XC based on his impression.

I was looking at a french forum and someone got their bike last week (the EC300 Racing) and provided good feedback after 3 rides. Here is my rough translation:

Positives:
  • Improved fit/finish.
  • Good Stability
  • Chassis feels more rigid
  • Better ground clearance
  • Improved traction (or tracking?? not sure what he meant)
  • Engine performance same as before, which he thought was a positive.

Negatives:

  1. The steering stops don't allow the same steering range as the 2011, but sounds like he was able to replace the stops to get it to about the same as the 2011.
  2. Need to remove the battery box to access filter
  3. Carb jetting was significantly off
  4. Seat is too hard
  5. Radiator shrouds pop out
  6. The plastic frame protectors don't last
  7. The headlight is always on (no switch)

Overall he seems to like the bike a lot and he said it was a good improvement over the previous year.

I'm just translating and have no experience with GGs. I'm just following the posts to learn about GG because I'm interested in a 2012.

The French forum link is below for anyone interested (page 19):

I had a set of Bulletproof Design radiator guards here that I bolted on. They fit perfectly. Looks like the rads are the same as in the past couple of years with one exception. There is a .275 inch spacer between the radiators and the frame so I had to use slightly longer bolts than provided by Builletproof. Or...they could be left off and the radiators would be tucked in a little tighter.

Also, Rekluse EXP clutch form my '11 went right in, too, on the '12.
