2012 Berg 2T

Umm, to each his own I guess.

Didn't Suzuki run yellow frames for awhile when they had purple shrouds and splatter graphics?

Isn't it still just a blue Ktm in disguise?

I won't be changing from gasgas unless a company develops a fuel injection smoker.

YES,, you are 100% correct.. well it does have a different fuel tank, shrouds and graphics.. so like 90% or 95%?
Still looks nice.. should of had the linkage the KTM 350 has,, then it would be something different..

???????????

Kinda ugly to me
Still pretty cause she is new and shiny, but kinda ugly
Stoby

Totally right, probably end up paying 1000 bucks more for a 300 xc ktm with blue plastic, kind of a bumber after husa came out with such a cool 4 stroke motor, I expected alot more than this silly copy.

By the time a good DI 2stroke makes it to market I hope the dollar is worth enough to afford it.

I bet it is an awesome ride but it gives me flash backs of Buck Rogers,Battlestar Galactica & Thunderbirds.Weird?

In this part of the world i think it is better value for money as all the ktm extras come as standard (map switch, headlight, etc) but you get all of those on a GG and it is cheaper!

The Blue guys do a lot of suspension work on their bikes well above the stock KTM. They are supposed to use a lot higher quality materials in shock and fork. Not sure if that makes a big difference or not if you send the forks off to get worked on. My KTM sucked in a bucket of sand right before my shoulder surgery, so I have not been able to do a good side by side with the EC300 with Les' work and the KTM with Trailtricks. I still have about 2-3 months before they want me back on the bike. I think that I am going to start riding at 7 months, and to heck with the docs!

Ya really...

(Little history here) When Husaberg Motor was formed in 1988 by some Husqvarna engineers that jump ship after the Italian company Cagiva, bought Husqvarna. Husaberg tried it on their own till Ktm purchased them in 1995.
Some good technical innovations were made by them and they're a super bike but I still would not trade my GG for them.
Bombardier has been messing with direct injection for two stroke for over a decade and has it pretty close as seen in some of the snowmobiles and water crafts.
I think it's the only way to go and will be the future for all. We'll just have to see who gets on board first. Ossa has already started it on their Trials bike. But I think it will be Ktm that will start it off big (since they have the biggest R&D budget) and the rest will follow.
Opps... well that went a little off topic...

Ahhh, I think that is one of the ugliest bikes I have ever seen.

But, I'm glad someone thinks it looks cool.

I think you will see it on bikes co-developed by and sourced from third party vendors just like carbs, ignitions, and EFI are now. Orbital is one. The Ossa is not DI, just conventional EFI applied to a 2stroke. The slanted motor is a good bet though as you will need room on the head for the HP injector. What you won't need is a big bulky damage prone expansion chamber, a major plus.

expansion pipe allows for more efficient fuel burn - burning unburnt fuel via pulses.

my assumption would be direct injection can inject multiple bursts to simulate exhaust pulses. but without a chamber how would it 'supercharge/compress' the air as a chamber does?

or maybe i'm way off :)

anyways, i would think that gasgas would eventually have direct injection - they did hire Pierluigi Marconi who headed up the design team of the ill fated bimota v-due.... i'm assuming he's still there - i believe he designed the side valve trials motor.... there are several direct injection motors on the market - the e-tec being one of them...

The purpose of an expansion chamber is to create a shock wave in the reverse direction from the initial exhaust pulse when the exhaust port opens. This returning pressure pulse keeps the intake charge in the cylinder. All the magic is in how this is tuned. In a DI 2stroke, the fuel is injected under high pressure AFTER the port is closed on the piston's way back up to TDC. So, no shock wave needed. This is also why emissions are low. No big pipe needed but a high pressure injection system, ECU, etc. are.
