Is that one of the "rider" models? Pretty sharp looking.

Same problem when i was a dlr, cant get bikes in the right time frame or not at all. I said they would be better off skipping a year and have bikes ready when the rest of them are coming out.

When Clay stated in another thread that he can't even get a sale rep or an R&D guy from the factory to visit what is the largest market for offroad motorcycles in the world, well that speaks volumes about how serious they take us, USA/Canada, over here. That's just a poor business model right there. The 13's need to be here, on dealers floors by mid August, to compete with KTM,not on a boat somewhere or still being assembled or redesigned. I don't doubt that this could be a make or break year coming up for GasGas US .

Clay, you gotta do something about these small fuel tanks from the factory.

MJC,
First I have to get bikes before I worry about the tank. BTW...My tank on my 2012 holds a full 3 gallons. I also believe that Mark at GF has plans with Clarke on a tank.

Three gallons is fine for most of us. Jetted decent they yeild a good range. Need more than that go aftermarket. Who wants a big bulbous tank when you don't need it.

+1 on that. I usually run out of gas before the bike does anyway.:D

Adding the extra litre for 2012 was a good call though. I think the 9.5L is just a tad on the small side. The 2013 is looking mint and if they can just refine the 2012 a tad and get them out on time everyone should be laughing!

Last weekend I rode the morning race at the GNCC in KY. Four 12 mile laps. I dumped a gallon in after two laps and there is a bit over a gallon left in the tank. I think I could have finished it without a stop.

I keep telling dealers that this whole thing is a bump in the road and we will look back next year and it won't seem so bad.

I'm just going by what the spec sheet says for the 12's(10.5L=2.77 gal), but if it's an actual as measured 3.0 gal, that will work just fine for a typical northeastern 2-2.5 hr H/S. If I need more fuel capacity it looks like i'll know who to go to, hopefully they can work something out.

I recently rode a 2hr harescramble is southern NJ. Deep sand sections, basically lots of throttle most of the time. I had no problem finnishing without a stop, on my '07 250. I had my son ready with fuel but went through scoring in 2nd on white flag lap, looked down saw plenty left in tank, and said no way I'm stopping. I think if you can do this in deep sand your good to go in more moderate woods conditions.

I'm racing just North of you (WNYOA) and would have only finished 2 races last season with the stock tank on my 11xc 250. I lost races last season because I had to stop for gas and also made race wins closer than they needed to be as well due to stopping for gas. The racing is that close up here. I tried using a Clarke tank last year, but I hated just about everything about it. As a racer who goes to the races by myself, it's a pain to have to ask someone to help me, or worst yet, get off the bike and do it myself. The tank issue is a big deal to me and the lack of a quality aftermarket tank is as well. Do you know how many guys have looked at the bike at the races and asked if could finish the race on that tank, and what my answer is.....nope. Can you get a bigger tank.....AHHHH, YAh but...

There is another option.

Take a look at the number plate fuel tank, they make 2 sizes.

How is your jetting? Room for improvement? My '03 was a pig until I cleaned it up and had the head modded, the '00 and '07 were always good.

How many miles are you running on a tank at your pace? I'm only a B rider, but big throttle in sand really sucks fuel.

The jetting is good. The bike and I both seem to be happy with it, NEDW,40,172. On a really good day I think I can get almost 40 miles out of a stock tank at an A level pace, but realistically 36-38 is more like it. I usually finish right around the top 20 OA. I just had the head modded by. http://http://cycleplayground.com/index.php/technical/headpics ,so I'll have to see what effect that has on fuel efficiency. My first series race is this Sunday, and I remember I went through over 4 gallons of gas last year at this same race. I actually ran out of gas 200 yards before the finish and had to put the bike on reserve, but that was with a CCK needle. We're way off topic here, sorry about that.

I measured fuel in my 12 after 32 miles and had 52oz left. That was before changed the jetting from stock which is way rich. I don't see the need for a large tank. Why get rid of that nice narrow tank that it comes with.
