2013 300XC Sub Frame

I really think the factory should help on this one. It's a clear design flaw, and the alloy part is the second attempt at a fix, first being different plastic compound parts so I'm told. This is big $$ parts, and if you break the plastic subframe your out of riding for weeks. Unacceptable.

Why can Beta airfreight bikes and parts, while Mark has to hitch a ride on a freighter for a container? And cheaper too! Beta subframe was listed at something like 70 Euros. Ducati too for that matter, from Italy in days!

I just emailed motocrosscenter the info and requested a quote. We'll see but I'm not getting too excited yet.

Question to my Euro and Oz friends: Are these parts std on the EC Race models in Europe, or were they available at a later date? Are they easily available in Europe or Oz? If the problem is the factory then we are screwed, if its our parts chain, then not as bad.

My wife will be in Italy next week, if these are available at an Itailian dealer or through the Itailin distributor, maybe she can bring one back.

I have a request in to Greenlandmx.com also. I'm tempted to send an email to GasGas Spain? I have before and they responded very well.

Clay is lucky to get a reply from Spain, much less us.

Yes, please keep us posted on the aluminum subframe and fitment with the US models. If it should break again that will be the route to go. After looking at it again this morning, the plastic design with all of the pressed in bolt/thread bushings (which were a bear to get out), and being separate pieces, is going to flex and potentially happen again. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Missing riding time waiting on parts for a new bike is dissapointing.

Extremely disappointing situation, even for us long time GG riders. I suspect that for a '12. a seat will be required as well. You got '12 parts on a '13? Unbelievable!

Technical term for subframe design is a cluster f$&@.

I guess I caught them on a good day. They responded to the problem I had very quickly.(the one I sent you a pic of)

Will see, i won't put in measure into it waiting for a response.

I found out when I broke a side panel and I ordered a 13 and it was quite different from what was on it. This being my first gg I am pretty sure it will be my last as well

I'm trying to keep in mind these are a few of the teething problems with a totally re-designed chassis. I'm just trying to stay positive and that with the new investors the R&D will only get better?

This is my first Gas Gas as well, been on Husky's for a long time. I wish i had at least done a little more homework. As i said before i really like the engine. I don't know that I've ever been this frustrated though with a bike. I'm sure once I get the needed parts and get it back together and riding again all will be better, I hope.

Looking at the way the air box is put together, with rivets, a good dose of silicone will be in order to seal it up. This design on a race bike is very questionable.

I apologize for my negativity guys, I'm just frustrated with the dollars spent and the quality i've seen so far.

I am not a negative person either and I am getting back into racing/riding after 7 yrs off and I like the bike but the quirks and bull with the parts will the downfall for me

the parts on it are fine if they break i'll replace with the correct stuff but I am not getting screwed twice. and I think my dealer has the parts. thanks anyway

Alloy Subframe on the 2013 Racing

Here is a pic of the alloy subframe with the covers.....

So for a '12 it looks like you would need all the rear plastic to go with it except the outer fender. Side panels and inner fender(that will still shatter). Has inner fender been changed?

Factory Alloy Subframe STD on EC200-250-300 Race

The factory already has a solution. It remains to be seen whether the alloy subframe will remain an option or become a std component of the 2014. Usually, IMHO, Motocross Center has excellent prices and their customer service is excellent. Go to this link for EC200/250/300 Race Upgrades including alloy subframe.

See excerpt below,

The new Gas Gas EC Racing line is here with the best components so that enduro racing fans can set the limits for each off-road stage. The revamped 200 R, 250 R and 300 R Racing versions are lighter, thanks to a redesigned frame and aluminium subframe and the best racing parts.

Marzocchi closed-cartridge ?48 mm inverted fork.

FMF silencer, Excel rims, Renthal handlebars.
Greater drive response of the engine at medium and low speeds.

I too have a 2013 300 and my first ride/race resulted in a broken subframe, air box and support fender. It was my first ride. Wasn't even my fault, the seat bolt came loose I fell over in a corner and (ironically) another Gas Gas rider ran into the back of my bike while it was laying on the ground and snapped both sides of the sub frame, took with it the air box and fender support with it. The seat popping off may have contributed. It has taken several weeks to get the parts :(. Very poor distribution... I still dont have the airbox and fender support. Very very disappointing for a brand new bike on the first ride. It was racing, I'm not looking for coverage, but poor design for a race bike and poor parts supply.

I just got the 2 subframe pieces today and the amount of work to remove and transfer the threaded pieces is completely ridiculous!! If you've had to do it, you know what i mean!! Who designed this? They should have used the aluminum subframe. I did try to order one but couldn't.

I've invested in this bike with a number of after market parts, so I will live with it (the engine is great!!!). Chasis (really the subframe - totally sucks) not so much.

Not very happy at all coming from a pretty much bullet proof Husky. Oh we'll... My only option is to enjoy it due to sunk cost, new bike plus new subframe, air box and fender support after one ride :(
Myself coming off a bullet proof Husky, this makes me nervous! I haven't even got to ride my new 12 yet. But my god I don't want a broken subframe. Very concerned...........................
