6.0 diesel owners?

A strange dilemma indeed. I let the truck go, but have driven a few since then and have decided that performance wise, that 6 litre kicks serious butt.

Alas, I can't justify it, since my V10 performs flawlessly, and I only drive 6000 miles a year. But I sure miss the sound and smell of my diesel.

Man Fred, that is really good to hear! I was a bit nervous about buying the rig, but I got it for a good price and I had heard really good things about the 7.3.

Any tips on regular/preventative maintainance?

firffighter: I do Rotella 15W40 at 5,000 miles and fuel filters at 10K. Fuel filters are a little different for me as I have mine set up to run straight vegetable oil and depending on sources for my oil I may have to change more often. I did put a better lift pump on also. No chip or exhaust yet but am toying with selling it and getting a pickup since my needs have changed a bit. 7.3s are the bomb diggity IMO

My father in law has a 6.0 and its been a great truck so far, he uses it very little though actually.

I have a 99 with the 7.3 and the 6 speed manual, lifted 2.5" on 35's, Ramsey 12,000lb winch + brushgaurd. I love my truck. Its got 168k on the odo so far.

270K on '96 7.3 ?

that ain't too bad then ? an associate has a dually for less than $5K w 270K , it runs and drives... I'm considering it as a back-up truck, if/when the trans on my '06 RAM 2500 gives up. The Ford is a stick. Any complaints on Ford manual trans ? This guy does take care of the truck, with synthetic oil changes, filters, etc.

Some of those had the 'dual dampened' flywheels I believe. They can cause some issues (if they lockup it can take the crank flange off) but i believe there is a replacement available.
