Christini Gasgas

I just got back from the show in NYC and saw the bike. I talked to the Christini guys and asked why a kit for GG before, say, a Yamaha? The GG frame is easy to work with fitting the kit and the bike does look very clean. They spent some time in Spain, and claim the ultimate goal is to have the AWD as a factory option. They also told me the new GG 250F prototype they saw is VERY nice!

Girard, I was pissed at myself for not bringing my camera! I didn't expect anything new like that. Maybe you guys will see it at LMS '09. It was on a stand so you couldn't sit on it, but it was the cleanest Christini conversion yet, IMO. It will be a rock crawling tractor with the 300 motor.

when i was first exposed to gasgas i was planning on buying a honda 450 (thinking id be able to save up enough to buy the kit) glad i didnt for 2 reasons, my gasser in 1 wheel drive is imo better than a honda w 2! and im way to broke to get it. the idea that i can again is very warm and fuzzy :)
looks like carb adjustments might b harder, with the covers on at least

Christini and GasGas have been working together on this project for a couple of years now and the results are just starting to be made public.

Using an EC300 as a Christini 2X2 platform is a match made in heaven as the GasGas's perimeter frame and bullet proof reliability are unmatched by any other manufacturers motorcycles.

I’m glad the word is out now as its been kinda hard to sit back and keep the partnership quite.

Look for more exciting announcements to come.

I talked to the Christini guys in Romania, where Geoff had major overheating issues with his KTM (imagine that). They told me they had something in the works, but I never dreamt they'd have something out already. Once I have the money for a stable of bikes, a Christini EC300 will definitely be one of them.

how bulletproof is it? i mean how hard can it be ridden for how long?
im pretty gentle(imo) but sometimes i do get a little over cocky and hit it.
what kind of maintanence does in require and how often?
i sent an email to them but havent received a response yet.
going to guess it would be in the ktm price bracket, but since it seems to be an easier build, maybe honda 450 (or less!?!)bracket..?

By design the Christini's front wheel drive system needs a lot of attention compared to the stock rear chain drive so as long as the user can adjust to the required maintenance schedules and routines they should be happy with the "on demand" front wheel drive benefits.

For steep climbs, I hope they check if overflow from the carb vent holes is an issue, and if so, what they could do about it. Surely it will become a climbing monster with 2wd and 13/50 gearing.

Longer swingarm anyone? :D

not the best pics but heres a couple from nyc

By 2010 there should be a pretty good idea of how much maintenance these things will need too. There are a few KTM's and Honda's out there right now testing durability for us. I have never been curious enough to check before......how much does that add to the price of a new bike?

I think the "kit" is about 5-6 grand for a KTM or Honda. The guy down the street sells them and form what I can see it adds tons of gears, bearings, seals etc to the bike. A slick setup but not simple by any stretch.

Probably not the hot setup for the ISDE. I doubt I'd want to mess with that extra junk to get the front wheel off to change a tire.
