Has anyone heard any news as to the new owners at Gasgas ? Not that there is anything we can do about whoever it will be . But I sure am looking forward to who is going to take over and how it will effect us GasGas guys . I am very hopeful that it is going to be a company that will grow the brand off of the machines we already have . And I sure hope they do it fast !

I spoke with the former CEO 2 weeks ago. He tells us the Court Appointee is now reviewing all potential buyers thru the month of Sept (currently there are 15+ potential buyers) then will narrow down to 3, before finally deciding who gets the nod, sometime in Oct. He went on to say the final decision will not come down to who places the highest bid, but rather who agrees to meet the majority of the requests made by the stock holders, unions, etc. In other words, who will do what is best for the workers and the brand.

This is information was sent to all the dealers immediately after our conversation. When there are further updates, it will be sent to the dealers first, then thru public media.

Thanks for sharing.

That is awsum ! I hope that they do pick someone who will do justice to the brand . So by the start of the new year we should have an answer .:D

Don't get too happy...Nobody knows the future just yet.

Unfortunately, this ain't the first time I've been down this road, so nothing would surprise me at this point.

No doubt, they might be making Gas Gas branded door knobs when all is said and done. Union wants people working. What they are working on is of less importance.

Not making light of the situation as this whole mess must have really disrupted your life. Hope it all works out.

Yeah...it has! But when the stress starts to build and my left arm starts hurting...I found the cure for what ails me, and puts a smile back on my face.

I go ride my motorcycle ;)

thks for the insight Rod, and hopefully the factory will one day start up and start churning out bikes again, as it would be a shame to lose the brand completely!

According to the Belgium importer Sunday October 18 th we will know who is the new owner of Gasgas motors will be ! Does anybody want to guess ? I am going with M V Agusta just because they have really cool road bikes !:D No worries just go ride as Rod says ;)

If i were to put my money on it, it will start with a K and end with an M (as much as i despite it)

well a much as some like to hate ktm, i for one would be thrilled if they took gasgas under their wing. it's as good and as strong a corporation as exists in the dirtbike world today. they didn't get to be where they are by being fools, and producing poor motorcycles! Just speculation, but they already have all the bikes that gasgas competes against, so maybe they are looking to capture some segments of the market that would not normally buy a ktm?
I've ridden gasgas and ktm's for years, they are both great bikes, just different, but still miles ahead of the jap stuff.
i do hope that this rumour does come to be!

I too would like this. It would make getting parts much easier for me. Getting gasser parts in Canada isn't all that easy.

If I was to guess, I think KTM wouldn't focus on the enduro model gassers as KTM already has the enduro market sales. I think they would be more interested in the trials models imo.

If KTM take it over you can forget about ever getting parts for any bike they didn't make
Just look at the poor service they give to older Husqvana model owners

A good friend of mine has a 2007 husqvarna (Italian) and he gets his parts through KTM without any hassle.

Interesting.

I hope MV doesnt get it. They drove Husqvarna into the financial perils before BMW bought it. MV isnt flush with cash right now either. Their bikes are not selling and the investment from MB is long gone.

I would have to assume that the Israeli investors are still trying their hardest to get the company back and try to recoup the investment they made a few years ago.

My gut says KTM buys it, moves the production unit to India and sells the factory to Sherco, who in turns moves trials production and parts distribution there from their factory in Spain. This scenario keeps all parties somewhat happy. Company is sold, bank gets some money and the workers keep their jobs.
