I must have missed that memo / e-mail. When dealing with Spain, what I have learned since March 2014 is...they will communicate when THEY decide to. Dates or deadlines are "penciled in".

I used to do alot of business in Brasil - beautiful place to visit. I would spend months at a time there - for my company and consulting for the United Nations... Great patience is required as absolutely nothing will happen on time.. I think I heard the saying "there is no time".

I remember one time a very necessary piece of equipment didn't show up and one of my U.S. coworkers freaked out. He said "oh my god!, what are we going to do now?!?". I replied calmly - "Did you bring your swim trunks? Do you feel like going for a swim today?".

Sometimes you gotta just "roll with it".

In a previous post Anders mentioned the 18th... If it's one or two months later - no reason to freak out.... ;-)

Good story Jeff. I will say this....it really doesn't matter what is going on, if they give a date...that should be considered as a "around 'bout time" unless it involves a holiday off. Then you can count on them to be exact, right down to the minute.

It's not right or wrong. Totally different culture...

I realized that watching to see what was different from our culture was very interesting to me. Some North Americans that I worked with were pretty rigid in their thinking and had a *very* hard time adapting....

I don't know if the Catalonian independence referendum and its results will dictate consequences on the factory investment wise.

That is why their countries are in such bad financial shape. Spain Italy and Greece and prime examples.

Not sure if I would go that far, but I know what your saying. Like Jeff says, it's just a different culture.

What I have learned in 53 years on this earth is, in the end you will only remember how you lived and what you should have done instead of work.

I am from Greece and I can understand how this seems to foreigners but because I am a truck driver and I have traveled Europe for many years I can say that it's only the difference in culture ( Mediterranean).
Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal have many things that Northern Europeans like and want. Also southern Europeans work more hours and get paid less than northern but that another subject for another time.

Anyway the thing we all want the most is for the brand to stay alive and keep produsing those wonderfull bikes.

Back ontopic, big news from Trialworld, translated with Google Translate:

Big news to start the Friday!
Sherco has submitted a binding offer for the purchase of gas gas, which will be sent to the judge, along with two other offers that here we'll tell you, and from there we will know what will be the future of gas gas. (Source: the VANGUARD)
What do you think the news?

The other two investors are IRG (an investment fund) and Torrot (an old bicycle brand that wants to produce motorcycles), while the rest of investors gave up (those 15 offers we heard looks like they were non-bidding).

Here is the link http://www.trialworld.es/sherco-irg-y-torrot-presentan-una-oferta-vinculante-por-gas-gas/

Here is the full article text:

Gas Gas is still struggling to produce again. In a black mark for the year Girona, which has since early this year with the factory closed without producing motorcycles, faces finding new investors to enable an activity again. Not surprisingly, the workers themselves Gas Gas presented on September 18 at the Trial des Nations a prototype of what would become the new Gas Gas TXT Pro 2016.

As in any process of liquidation, it is necessary that some requirements to make the project become firm and solid industrial fabric national ground are met. It will be the commercial court of Girona who will have to decide the future of the brand.

SHERCO INTERESTED IN GAS GAS
Meanwhile, the newspaper La Vanguardia yesterday announced October 15 that Sherco, IRG and Torrot have submitted a binding purchase offer Gas Gas.

Sherco, as you know you are a brand of French motorcycle manufacturer with production plant in Caldes de Montbui, IRG an investment fund and Torrot an old bicycle brand that wants to manufacture motorcycles. In addition, another half dozen companies have submitted a non-binding offer for Gas Gas, but finally gave up on going ahead with the process.

The receivers plan to send the three binding offers for the judge to decide what the future of Gas Gas.

Let's break it down a bit

1. Sherco, everybody knows the benefits if it goes thru. The two factories are very close (~30-40km away), Sherco has experience in the Trials field etc etc.

2. Torrot, they build electric push bikes and scooters ... i think it's going to be bye bye Gas Gas we are spoiled with

3. IRG, there are so many companies called that ... i can't tell for sure if it's the NZ investment research company, the Hong Kong investment banking boutique, US realty group ...

I very much hope Sherco's bid goes thru.

Exciting!! These all sound like more appealing options than a purchase by KTM. I can't wait until some other news sources pick this up and dig a little deeper.

Let's hope Rod Overstreet will chime in with more info (as usual) ... maybe ?
