If you check GoFasters.com, we hope that you will be pleasantly surprised that the we have a new website, along with updated fiche for the GasGas. For the fiche, just click on the blue banner that says "Click Here for GasGas Micro Fiche." For 2010 and 2011 GasGas owners you can print your order from the shopping cart and bring it or send it to your closest GasGas dealer. We know there are a few bugs that will be inevitable on the fiche, but with the new system, pricing updates and part number changes much easier so that will mean a much cleaner and simpler ordering process. I hope you all are having as good of a riding season as we are!

fricking technology

It worked fine in testing....we are working on the problem. All accesories work, but the microfiche isn't working at all.....hopefully a quick fix.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!
I rarely have time to get on the phone and order during biz houses. Much easier for me to submit via the net.

Ummm not sure so I will ask, why praytell is a piston for my 300 $371.00? and the rings are $78?

Damn I shoulda bought a two stroke... wait! ... oh yea... it is....

bugs in pricing

Like we said there are some issues and bugs in the system yet...one being pricing on certain products, pistons/plastics and major items. $371 is retail from Spain, but we've always lowered that price and margins for the US market. You have to remember, European parts are costing $1.46 for every dollar. An aftermarket piston in the US maybe about $200, but an OEM of the same nature, but made special for GG instantly becomes $292 before freight costs, or handling.

This goes for bikes as well. Clay is doing a great job moving bikes in the US, but if you think he's actually "raking in the dough", you are entirely wrong. He's trying to keep the prices competitive while our US government keeps throwing the money out the door, weakining our dollar and making it harder for him and for us to keep the consumer happy while still making us beer money.

Mark's wrong. We are raking in the dough! We made $36 on the last 125 we sold! Priced them at $1.26 per euro and paid for them at $1.49! We'll make it up in volume! :D

I've got an idea.

Move production here!

The problem with our economy (OK, one problem) is that we don't manufacture here anymore. (We really don't assemble over here, either.)

Think of the possibilities. You can still source suspension components from Europe (Zokes, Ohlins, Sachs), but we in the U.S. can bend tubes, die cast, assemble, etc.

Wiseco is fully capable of casting more than pistons, as are other foundries. Frame production can be done here as well. Alcoa could directly build subfames. Barnett and rekluse can provide clutches, etc. Cycra provides plastics, G2 provides throttles, hand guards, etc. I know where they can get a killer, programmable ignition (once i have time to finish it!).

GG has created a good design. Using their CAD capability (I saw it at the factory when we received our tour), they can easily outsource manufacturing and assembly here. Outsource to the U.S.!!

Imagine a legitimate U.S.-Built dirt bike. Cannondale was too much, too soon, ATK never had volume (and they used to import "Maicos"), so why not take advantage of the weak dollar, and build stuff here??

I don't doubt that we couldn't make up the 46% difference due to the weak dollar. With really advanced manufacturing techniques and a clean slate, it could be done.

I'm always looking for a new challenge. This could be fun. Weak dollar = internal opportunities.

If we do it right, Clay could make $40 on every 125!

Highland Motorcycles were planning on assembling Gas Gas' here. That fell through.
Labor is way too high in the U.S. to assemble motorcycles and turn a profit.

I had no idea Highland was going to assemble GG here. Thanks for pointing that out.

I am not sure why it would be more expensive to assemble here as opposed to Europe. Standards of living are similar, and if you avoid the unions, you can assemble for reasonable cost. (Ask BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, etc.) You have to do a good job of design and logistics, but it could be done.

Keeping Unions out would be tough.
I know Ford is paying $8 more per hour at their assembly plants than Kia/Hyundai (non Union) here in the U.S.

Henry Ford once said ( I have to pay my workers a fair wage other wise my workers could not buy my cars and I would be out of a job).

There are a few of us on this site that are union and to bash someone they are union or non union is not what this site is about; we are here to talk about GASGAS.
Only 10% of the jobs that are left in the USA are unionized and half of those are public sector. My guess is that the workers of GG,BMW, Husky and Aprillia are unionized because in europe 60% of the jobs are union, have health care and more vacation time than we in the USA will ever get. But we can afford to buy GG's even with their curency valued higher than ours.

One of the great things I hope we can pass down to our grandchildren is wages the same as they are in China,India and Bangladesh through free trade agreements so our grand kids can enjoy the same living conditions as they do.

Sorry if my post came across as a slam to Unions.:(
I'm just saying that most manufacturing plants would be Unionized, there by having higher labor costs.

I wasn't involved in this thread, you must have meant GGman.

All I have to say about this is one thing : The right to work state of Texas. In a country going to crap they have managed to shine. Build them there and pay the workers a FAIR wage for what they do. Look at Toyota building Tundras in San Antonio. Everybody is treated well building good trucks with more total domestic parts content than a Dodge Ram.

Built in NJ they would have to cost double.
