I just wanted to let all of you know that our very own Mr. GMP had surgery today here in Houston to fix his Collar Bone. The surgery went well from what I gathered and I dropped him off at his hotel and he was feeling pretty good. I wish I would have brought my camera because he looked really cute in that Dr. Ordered leg stocking!:D

Heal up soon Glenn!

Boomhauer,, very nice of you transporting Him,, nice to see that we all have each others backs here...

Glenn,, hurry up and get home,, got some forks in my basement that I need help with..

They have fish tacos in Houston?? bring some back,, I'm sure security will let you board with them wrapped up in tinfoil,,,

Thats cool Robby that you were able to help a guy out. Hope this does the trick for you Glenn, so you can get back to normal and on your dirt bike!

I just heard trivia recently, some game my wife, family, and I was playing... The most common bone to break is the collar bone. I figured it was fingers or toes.

Yep, I got it wrong. :)

Yup. Dr Mark.
One of my co-workers had knee surgery with Dr Mark last week, he walked out of the office a few hours after.

I'm going to meet up with Glenn and Robby for dinner tomorrow.
Robby said the plan was to get Glenn drunk.:D

Amazing the great people you meet though this forum.

Those should travel well. lol. I do love 'em too.
Best of luck Glenn. Hopefully you'll have you're A-game back for Sandy Lane.

The only thing bad about Glenn coming to Texas is that he brought this damn cold weather we are having right now with him.:p It frigging snowed on me after I dropped him off! It is suppose to warm back up on Friday after he departs. (Kinda Fishy To Me) LOL

This is not NORMAL Houston weather.

Yep pain meds & Hurricanes before we put him back on his plane!;)

Well He didnt take it all with him,, we are having an ice storm/snow storm now.. Glenn mentioned going out with you guys.. what kind of beer do you have down there?
Brian,, I'm hoping He is up for the sandy lane too.. I'm shooting to hit that as a 1 year mark and I want to be on His row.. Thats where I was going last year..

Drink up Glenn,, leave the little pills for when you feel better,, they are more fun then!

Hey guys, I got my laptop working in my room.

A major thanks to Robby for stepping up to help me out, what a pal! Great people on this forum!

I feel pretty good, go for a followup at 1:00 today and some X Rays, in
structions, and some PT torture. I got a bone graft from my shin and I feel that more than my shoulder, but not bad at all, better than expected.

Dr. Mark is a real character, has a sense of humor. I think he did seven surgerys yesterday, including at least two other out of state patients.

Roscoe, yeah, he said that the average rider can expect to break at least one clavicle in his career, and there is nothing you can do as far as gear for better protection. Most MC crash clavicle breaks are of the "high energy" type with displacement that need surgery. Just get good insurance for repairs.

Steve, since this is the third cut on my clavicle, I may need more than normal recovery time, won't know until I talk to him today. I have a lot of gym time to make up and a few lbs to lose, so we'll see about Sandy Lane. This has been such a long hard road I don't wan't to screw it up now. I'll be back ASAP! Oh, I'm already going to have to explain setting off the metal detector, no foil wrapped fish tacos!

Going to dinner tonight with Robby and Girard, don't know about the "Hurricanes" though, I think dragging my ass though the airport like I am now is bad enough without a hangover on top of it. Some good food and a couple beers may be more appropriate.

Thanks for all the good wishes!

We had a great evening with you Glenn.:D Wish you could hang around longer though. Take care of yourself and heal up quick!

Robby

I took a hard hit on my right shoulder a few weeks ago (twisted the EC250 throttle a little too hard :D ) and really expected my 45 year old clavicle to snap like a twig, but I was lucky. I am a Paramedic here in Missouri and see the occasional collar bone fracture from shoulder belts in a car crash. Seat belts certainly save lives but the shoulder belts do take a toll on clavicles but, it's better than the alternative. It's great that you had a fellow forum member to help you out. Best wishes on a speedy recovery, take that PT slow and easy.

Well I'm home, and again a big thanks to Boomer. It was nice finally meeting Girard as well and we had a good dinner along with Boomer's wife.

I have a lot of swelling now, since my little follow up workout at the doc's office. The airport was also painful walking, popped a Vicoden for the plane ride. Hope its normal. Anyway, I'll be out of riding for at least 4 months. I had a big gap in the bone that needed a lot of graft to fix. So, sorry Steve no Sandy Lane.:( First goal is just to get back to normal day to day activities.

You can still lift a beer right?? At the rate I'm going I'll be surprised if I make it either,, but I'm still going to try.. even if its just to get to the first check..

I already lifted a few of those.:D

Dr. Mark said all is normal, swelling is at its worst 2-3 days later. The difference I think is that after my last surgeries here in NJ, I was in a sling for a week or two and did not move, with Sanders, I was moving close to full range for 15 rep sets(ROM only) the next day. I would have never tried that alone. He has a trainer that works with you post op and sets up a plan. I have some special exercises to do to work the muscles around the area without stressing it.

The guy's ACL work is for real, I saw the girl who had her ACL done in the AM before me walk unassisted up and down the hall of his office.

Perhaps Tom Brady should have gone to Dr. Mark:D

WOW, that must have hurt:eek:

WOW, that must have hurt

Actually not that bad. All the exercises are set up to work the muscles around the clavicle without putting excessive forces across it. I also did 20 min on a bike at my target heart rate, with the bone graft hole in my left tibia. Felt like a hero, now I'm hurtin'.

Oh, BTW, the Ti plate did not set off the metal detector.

Glenn,, good to hear your doing good.. ACL and walking.. amazing.. John S that has the husky450 had his ACL done 3 weeks ago and is still on crutches..
