Yeah Girard, that bell trick stopped working a LONG time ago. Thats why I was in Houston by myself.
Looking good wearing the colors Robby! As I recall, the last time I wore GasGas gear into a hospital it was cut off of me.
Anesthesia has come a ways in a few years. Now, you get an anti-nausea drug in the IV before you wake up. In the PA hospital after my stick extraction, I felt hung over for a day. Now you can stop for Mexican food on the way home.
Steve (Cruiser) has a powerball I tried, seems like it will work very well. I think I need to get one too as my right arm/hand is pretty sad from lifting no weight for weeks now.
Girard she said that bell would wind up somewhere that the sun does not shine.
she has been really good to me helping me open things, etc. I have not had to go to the batroom yet. The bandages are coming off today so I will post more pictures of the wound.
Well yesterday I removed the bandages and to my surprise he did the old school release surgery on both hands. The left is a bit more swollen than the right and I have a bit more pain with it also.
I questioned him about it and he said because of the nerve damage he had seen he went ahead and did it old school. He said my recovery time is still the same. So that's good! i am able to type with both hands. I was able to go to the bathroom by MYSELF with no help thank you very much!
I did almost manage to lock myself in there because you loose your turning muscles. I do have to have the wife help me open up bottles of gatorade or other products.
I will post up pictures of the stutures here in a bit.
So far I am very happy with the surgery. I want to keep my hands in tip top shape but I do not want to screw up his great work so I am going to be patient.
I don't think so. If you worked on an assembly line and used the same motions to install the same part all day then maybe, but as a tech your doing different things all the time.
The doc said the endo would have only been 2 less stitches. My left hand has 5 stitches and the right only has 4. That is where he found most of the issues I guess.
If I remember that far back I think the Doc used something else to close the cut as there were no stitches on the outside , just under the skin. It healed up just fine!
Well the first "Real" ride is in the books. The Carpal Tunnel release surgery worked well.
Yesterday gasgasman, myself, & a few friends hit the trails hard. I took it easy the first few miles and then I decided to lay it down to see how the hands would react. Absolutley, positively no hand numbness at all for the whole ride!
The hands did cramp just a bit halfway into the ride but that is just because I have not used them this hard since the surgery. My endurance is way down, so it is time to hit the gym hard until our first national here in 2 weeks.
I am very happy that I did the surgery. I can already feel & see the difference it is going to have on my riding/racing.
If any of you are second guessing your numb hands get them checked out. I know gasgasman saw first hand the difference this surgery had on my riding.
Thats great to hear that it is working out for you. You got me motivated to get mine taken care of now. I have a appointment to do the testing in 2 weeks.
Thats awesome Robby, its great when things work out! Maybe talk to Ed, Dr. Marks trainer, for exercises to make the most of the time you have before the race.
Pumped does not describe it.I will be able to ride at a whole different level now. And talk about a boost to my self confidence.
Glenn thanks for that idea! I might give him a call first thing Monday.
Hydrodog get it done! I have some small exercises I can share with you to get you back on the bike quicker. Flydown here and gasgasman and myself might try to get you drunk like we did with Glenn!
