The VIN you posted (stamped in headstem) will tell you. If it's as above it'll be an 06.
Gas Gas offers the kit to upgrade (subframe, airbox, plastics, seat, etc) at a reasonable price. That's what I imagine has been done.
What do you mean the VIN numbers don't correspond? The frame has a VIN. I don't think the VIN is stamped into the engine at all - that is a separate number.
The vin is either
VTREC3000G0160943
or
VTREC3000C0160943 its hard to tell. The frame number must have been altered
the vin checker says 2016 model or 2012 model.
I will photograph and post tomorrow.

Here is a closeup of the side of my 2006 model.
I have other pics if you want to compare the rest of the bike to yours.
I think its as jakobi says. 2006 with new stuff. If a dealer/shop sold it as 2011 thats a problem. I like to think people are generally good, so as a result probably just people who don't know better. I sold a 1989 rm125 a couple years ago. It popped up on craigslist last week as a '91 model. It had '91 graphics so that's why he said that.
I would contact the seller, discuss the situation. Whether he did it knowly or on purpose the bike was miss represented.
The dealer was contacted and was abrupt, uncooperative, and went red in the face.
Guilty of telling lies I suspect
It's so obvious it's not a 11 model.Probaly a 06,07 by the look of frame and suspension combo or even 05.To answer your original question,no you were not ripped off.It was mispresented as a 2011 but ripped no.
Take your frame numbers to the po po and if its clean go ride it.
You guys think 3k for a 2006 is okay?
Sounds a bit high to me.

When you go to resell the bike, it will be major hassle.
