IMS Tank markings, and PV spacer measurements

Hi guys

Sorry, been out of the loop awhile.

IMS Tank

I have a 3.4 Gal on my 07 EC300, which should fit 08 and 09 as well. Here is the tank:

And here are the only markings I could find:

The bottom text says GG - 2. Maybe that will help the guys at IMS ID the tank. Looks like a December 2003 tank?

If you follow my post in the - For Sale Thread - under "WTB Clarke/IMS for GG EC300 08'" thread, where I explain that the IMS doesn't properly utilize the mounting foot of the seat base where the foot should slip under the 5/8 inch bar located at the back of the frame, you can see what I was taling about in Dingo's second photo of the bikes with the tank.

If you look closely where the seat meets the tank (just behind the shrouds and above the shock) you can see daylight (and the back of the other shroud actually) as the seatbase is riding too high for the seat base foot to grab onto the frame.

Dingo's photos show that the IMS tank can be mounted the problem is the seat is no longer holding onto the frame with it's mounting shoe.

I'll start a new thread with photos, complete with the Clarke tank fix, to better illustrate the pros and cons of using either the older Clarke or IMS tanks on the newer generation GasGas 2 strokes.

Very true BB. I had to use heat to bend the "hook" out of the way a tad. The seat has since settled, and given me no issues so far.

We've have been working with both IMS and Clarke trying to remedy the newer generation Two-stroke GasGas (07+) tank fitment problems when using the older generation (06-) tanks and have spent considerable time looking into what has to be done for each manufacturer to do to make either tank work with out them having to reinvest in new expensive molds.

We've made our recomendations to both IMS and Clarke and it looks like Clarke will have a fix in the next couple of weeks. IMS is still looking into a solution.

:D There's also a fix for the monkey butt problem as discussed elswere on GasGasRider.org as Enduro Engineering is now making their oversized "cushy" seat for Gassers.:D

Cheers for the size(depth) of the spacer Dingo, good work...
Thanks again,
Mark.
