Joing the club for 15

Danbot, do you guys have a lot of single track there? Looks like nice stuff, I would love to drive out there in the summer and ride there. I take my rear light off and trim the black plastic piece. Ive snapped mine off on every gasser ive owned. Last bike i just left it, the filter didnt get any dirtier and its a pain to change. That being said I just put a new one on!! Last one though:)

Yeah we build quite a bit of single track, and there is endless narrow culines and exploration trails on the mountainsides. We accomplish a lot for a small group, there's only 4 of us in the whole town lol

I hear conflicting info on deleting the tail light / inner fender so thanks for the comment. I'll probably look into it this weekend.

Looks like some good riding there, I live across the province from you and have looked at the map and wondered if there was any riding around there.
Also nice choice of toys! I have similar tastes. EC300 and a '14 Polaris Assualt 155``.
Might have to explore that area sometime.

Got my first ride in today!
It's a record first spring ride... usually it's no good til mid-april sometime but it has been very mild lately. I had 3 buddies with me and we had an awesome day. I'm also recovering from knee surgery in Oct so it was good to get out and test some limits.

The bike is amazing, everything I could have hoped for. I felt at home on it after about 10 minutes.
Good:
-I love the engine, very easy to use
-the bike likes to be ridden slow, very stable with great steering.
-estart worked perfect all day (I have stretched the flyweight spring)
Gripes:
-flat front tire
-left footpeg spring popped out of place
-seat is killer stiff
-I'm going to move the bars to the forward position

I'll be sore tomorrow haha, I'll post some vids + pics asap

I just finished fixing my flat front tire, and footpeg spring. A few things I noticed:
-the allen head cap on the front axle is open through where the allen wrench goes in... hate to see water and dirt pollute the threads / inside of the axle. I might try and find a way to seal it off behind the cap some day. Nice design otherwise... quick and easy wheel removal!
-there's hole on top of the swingarm, I'm assuming this is where part of the std model chain guide bolts on. Need to install a bolt in there to seal it off.
-it seems this bike is almost completely built with an 8mm socket and several allen wrenches. sure makes working on it easy!

I'm just processing a little bit of video footage, should be able to post it sometime today.

All 8mm wrenching ... Sounds like GG factory reads these forums after all generally with GG you get to use all your tools ;-)

I got 3 solid days of riding in this week, loving the bike.
My only real complaint is the footpeg springs, They just wont stay in place for more than a few miles. Anyone have a solution?

I did manage to boil it over once, and get a few squeals out of the clutch when abusing it. I'm aware of the "drilling more holes in the clutch hubs" trick to help with this, although I'm hopeful the switch to ATF might help until I have to go in to replace my first clutch pack.

Friggin thing almost rides itself around in the forest! So smooth and easy to ride.

If your clutch is squealing you're in the wrong gear.

Wrong! These clutches are prone to squeal on a first gear take off. It's just what they do. The clutch basket is not designed very well and starves the plates of oil. The only real fix is a Rekluse clutch basket

I have been out riding the hell out of the new bike and loving it!
This thing makes riding easy, I am attacking some obstacles I used to pass by and I'm more confident in the nasty stuff.

Issues:
-I need a little more height out of my bars, I'll probably add some small riser blocks since I like my bars (Fatbar CR High, cut to 29").
-Figured out the footpeg spring issue, have them installed correctly now
-The small electrical device (voltage reg?) attached to the top / front of the airbox snapped it's little aluminum bracket. It didn't seem worth fabbing a new bracket, I just zip tied it into place.
-Clutch squeal is annoying when I have to work it, I'll likely try and make the season like this, it got a little better after the first oil change with ATF. A rekluse basket is on my long list.
-My rear Metzler must have a bead flaw. Takes an abnormal amount of pressure to seat the bead, and when I lower my pressure to 8psi and ride.... one small section of the bead will pop back off. Strange, never seen that before.

I absolutely LOVE this engine. It has the low rpm and torque I need, and still has a very pipey top end. I'm still rich and using the stock needle but it runs so good, I'm in no panic to tune further for now lol.

Suspension is starting to loosen up and feel really good, I have gone out a few clicks here and there, really happy with it. I'm running a lot of sag to reach the ground better with my feet, slid the forks up a bit to keep the rake.

Brakes are amazing, predictable and powerful. Although, the front squeals at times, I'll taper the edges of the pads one of these days to see if it helps.

I hated the seat at first, got through the pain and like it now. It's very firm for my usual liking, but makes it easy to move around the bike and leg clamp it whenever I need to.

Aye that seat is firm, but youl never ride lazy again!,it encourages (forcibly) the rider to adopt a standing position, which is great if you set the bars in the right spot, and a pita if not.ive found now that i stand up everywhere except when you need to really lay the bike over, or on a transport section.
design brief-we want a seat that works perfectly when youre not sitting on it to promote more active riding, not better sitting!

I do sit down alot when climbing slow stuff, but I'll get used to it. My old Honda seat was super soft and comfy by comparison!

Today I drilled some holes in my Zeta bar guards to mount up the large enduro style Cycra sheilds I had laying around. The profile matched, just needed a few new holes drilled and tapped.

Out of curiosity I held the E-Line CF pipe guard off my 07CR250 up to the Gasser's pipe.... fits almost perfect! Mounted her up :)

I threw a bolt in the spare hole on the chain side of the swing arm to keep water and crud out.

My next projects are a brake pedal leash, and to figure out a way to install a grab strap over the seat without it looking scabby.

Curious to see how you install that grab strap. Pictures please? :)

theres grab recesses already under the rear guard, unless youve removed the tail light, and inner plastic guard,at least on the 13 there is!

I'm still curious myself haha.
I would probably eyelet off the two rear large bolts on the subframe, looks like I might have to dremel out a pair of slots in the fender for the straps to come up through... maybe not. I still have some inner fender left there, so it might be meaty enough to take the force.

Free grab strap version 1.0

I crimped a pair of eyelets in a strap, mounted in rear muffler / side panel bolts. My inner fender still exists where the strap comes up by the outsides of the fender, should be plenty tough enough to take the inward pressure applied to the fender when I lift the bike by the strap. The side panels get a slight outward pressure when I lift the bike, doesn't appear to be enough to be concerned with. Might be hard to see with my low quality pics, but on the muffler side the strap is between the muffler spacer, and the subframe. On the other side, it's sandwiched between the side panel and the subframe.
I tossed the bike around a few times with the strap, works good!

I also moved the ignition map switch up to the bars, had to add a foot or so of wiring.

Here is the E-Line CF pipe guard from my 07 CR250 mounted up on my Gasser, near perfect fit!
