hey jeff,
for me personally, this site is pretty close to invaluable.
i understand that it is quite a gift that you give to all of the members, and non-members who look around.
by your actions you have shown that you are a selfless person and for that you should feel very good.
its an uncommon trait, and one that might even go against the nature of us as humans.
as far as any time delay issues, there may be some that have said something negative or stupid but i think that they are the minority and arent worth your time.
its unforunate that the minority is usually the most vocal.
plus even without any negative feedback this is a lot of work and no small task.
from what i hear about what is required its like a high maintenance relationship with little to no reward, other than your own intraspective feedback that your a good guy.
not that this may help, but if ever make it to las vegas i'll be more than glad to set you up with everything from bike to gear, etc for some of the best riding we have.
so thanks for there being guys like you.

Jeff,

I'm sure most of us all understand and respect your time. Furthermore, we all want you to contue recovering from your sugery and take advantage of all the precious things life has to offer. Lastly, thank you so much for all you have done for this site.

Hi Jeff.

I can only say THANK YOU for this fantastic forum! It's because of it (you) that I'm really considering a GG because the tons of information stored here have a great influence in my choice .
Wish you a great recovery and that everything goes well with your new life objectives.

Thank you

Vind

I love this site and unless I'm out of town and computer range I check in every day. Enjoy your riding Jeff and the relaxation.
Now the real question (in my mind anyway), what could we as a community do to help ease the stress ? I'm no forum whiz, I know nothing about it, but if there is something that I could do I'm in !

Big thanks to Jeff for keeping the best GG resourse on the internet going.
I think this is one of the only forums I know of that isn't full of twits using it as their own chat room. Its kept me informed since 2006.
All the best Jeff, and I think GG owes you a bike at least !

I agree with that. I bought mine in large part because of what I read here. I lurked for a long time before I bought one but have since helped sell a couple of others.

Thanks for all you do for this community Jeff. I didn't realize you had health issues and hope that you are on the mend.

Is "out ridin'..." a figure of speech or do you have a new bike?

[FONT=&quot] I do own several motorcycles - a 2004 honda xr280 "trail bike" that Les built for me with zoke forks and an ohlins shock (Les at LT-Racing has a "twin" to this bike - his has ohlins forks and ohlins shock).

I also have an '08 husky txc510 4 stroke that I share with Les. This one satisfies my "need for an adrenaline rush".

In addition, I have a couple of old honda tlr200 trials bikes that I need to get running again. These are street legal for running around when camping with the family...

So, yes - I will be "out ridin'"

Given all the time and money that I have spent out of pocket over the last 10 years for the smackover site (which I ran prior to this one) and gasgasrider.org - I could have bought two bikes with cash...

[FONT=&quot]But getting a GasGas right now isn't in my future and I don't want one "for free" for all the work I have done - I live by some very simple rules and one of them is do things for others and to not accept, or expect, anything in return...

Hi All,

Thanks for all the kind words.

I have been thinking about my role going forward.

The options are complicated as I maintain a linux web server in my home with a business comcast account to service it - speed is about 6 Mbps up and 22 Mbps down. In addition to knowing the bulletin board software - any "help" would also have to be a linux systems administrator (configuration and maint of linux O.S., networking, mail, sql, apache, etc.).

Having the server in my home reduces costs and provides great performance - we don't share the "pipe" with anyone else and we aren't sharing the machine with anyone else or limited in the amount of memory we need, etc.

Given this, I will be adding one moderator to help share the load for daily forum moderation - huskydude has graciously volunteered. I will completely step away from any participation on the forum and solely handle maintenance of the linux server in my garage and bulletin board backups etc.

I know many here suffer from a true addiction to both the brand and this website; I am "retiring"- but don't worry guys - I am not going to rip your gasgas forum "crack pipe" from your hands.

Jeff

Hey Jeff like it was mention before. First priority would be your health and family. We sometimes take both for granted. And we should not. They are both a wonderful gift. Take your time man...and heal up.
The only way someone would understand the time and effort you have put into this place is really to do it all from the inside. It's the little things that add up and soak up the hours in a day. That said I really feel without the honest and mature members we have on here things also would not go as easy.
This is a great forum and I'm glad I'm part of it.
