New 2012 GasGas

To be honest I never liked that cassette filter idea and I'm glad its gone. No matter how I do the math, the filter area does not add up to what we have now. I think it was born from the Six Days and WEC where fast changes are needed, but IMO the design will necessitate frequent changes. The rest of us don't have this issue.

On the other hand the molded in battery box might be quite useful for stashing some spares, tools, oil, etc.

Clay, please pass on that there are these things called turnbuckles that allow the adjustment of a linking rod without having to disconnect one end They have been around long before KTM so there should not be a patent issue.

Bob,
I don't expect any change in the wiring harness. The bike will still come here with a headlight but no tail light. I expect they will still have only one wiring harness and will just zip tie up the wires that aren't used.

Anyone know if a Scott's damper from a ktm will if the new gas gas?

I have one on my ktm and would like to keep it for the gas gas but I need to know if the steering head diameter is the same on the gas gas for the clamp to fit.


It is the top mount system.

Call Scott's and see if the 2011 mount kit is the same as the KTMs. It's unlikely that the diameter of the headtube changed, but the guys at Fastway assure me that hey will be measuring up the new scooter as soon as it comes in.

I have a '12 Race 250ES on order. Will it come accessorized just like in this pic?

Would be good to have included both the red and the black covered seats..... to suit different riding conditions......

Also, are the race models coming with 7/8 Renthals, or with proper fat bars?

Only the black seats. If we included the red, the price would go up by 10 times and she still wouldn't be happy!

I think you should 'seriously' look into it as an option- maybe as a mid year special? Call it a Gas *ss.......or?
