It's too bad that they are building the bikes so late. They, and Clay have to know that they have lost a lot of customers to the Orange brand due to such a late release. They have to release the new bikes a lot earlier than this if they want to compete with them, and the other brands for that matter.

I am pretty frustrated with the delay but I am glad that they are taking the time to get the bike right before releasing it. Obviously they should have started working on the development sooner.

I don't see a 2012 bike not being ready until 2012 as being a problem.

But maybe we are abit more patient this side of the pond, as most of the riders I see and talk to don't seem to be bothered about delays in manufacturing. Regardless of manufacturer guys seem to wait for the bike they want.

But then again dirt biking is not as prevelant over here and we tend to hold on to bikes for longer..

THe fall is a time for a good bit of business here in the US, especially in the southern half of the country. New orange bikes were out in August.

I agree with MJC and Clay. It's quite bad for sales because of the delay. I was very frustrated with the fact that no EC125 2012 is announced when all the other brands (including Fantic Motor putting Marzocchi 48CC forks on all the models including the new GG linkage..!) have announced all the models. Also already now I see in the starting list for Sunday's extreme enduro here in Finland about 10 new guys with 2012 TM125s. Why not GG to win 3-4 of these sales with their new EC125 announced earlier (with the new frame and even without big changes to the engine...).

I pulled the trigger yesterday and I bought a mint registered EC125 2008 for cheap from a friend after I sold my YZ125 08. So I still come back to the brand and I am going to wait for something new maybe for year 2013 or 2014. The factory has really to release the models much earlier especially now that JTG (with legend Mika Ahola used for the development and race results) and Ossa are going to be direct competitors.

With all the respect to the Factory,

Leon

If Gas Gas are producing the bikes at the beginning of December why wont they release photos and details.

Don't they understand what they are doing not keeping everyone up to date.

I would say they would of lost a lot of sales and I think a lot more will be lost if they don't let customers know more details.

The importers around the world must be suffering seeing lost sales.

I don't want to go Orange or blue but I may have to if Gas Gas will not let us see what changes have been made.

Production started only a few days ago? I'm sure there will be pics coming out soon.....

I understand about the wait. I'm not thrilled to be getting a bike in Feb and having zero time to dial it in before racing kicks in. I'm sure it will get worked out in the future.

That being said, I think the 2012 bike will be worth the wait.

Sandman,
Not exactly sure what you mean. The factory has posted pics of the standard model with Sachs suspension and the Race model with Ohlins/Marzocchi. They also released the specs on the bike back when they showed the first pic in September. I know there are some questions about the power valve update and I have asked for clarification on that issue but haven't gotten an answer yet. What else do you want to know?

Hi Clay
I would like to see the new air box set up were they will place the battery now as a new air box has to be made and tell everyone if the new power valve will be fitted like some photos showed.

I know it must be frustrating for you but owners would like to see all this.
I know the bike will be good but looks of the bike and service to the air filter are important. it would be nice to know.

I would just think that with production started they would of sent out details to try and keep customers like me interested.

Got it. The 12s have a plastic subframe that bolts to the main frame just above the footpegs on each side of the main frame. Those plastic pieces have a battery box just under the seat. This box was forward of the shock mount but behind the gas tank. All of the bikes have this box, e-start or non e-start. It's built into the sub-frame under the seat.
My understanding of the air filter is that they took the casette out and put in a standard air filter. The boot in the filter stays the same but there is a filter inserted in the top rather than from the side.
Unfortunately Gas Gas is a really small company and they don't they in those terms (about communication with the customer). We are working to change that but it's a tough battle.

When will the new clutch cover be available? I am about 3-4 years from owing a 2012 so by then I'll be quite sure of what I am getting.

Um, this may surprise some people here but there are other countries in the world other than America! Releasing new bikes in time for the start of the US race season is only one consideration manufacturers have to make! The advantage of waiting is that the folks at Gasser get to see what others are offering before they release their models, allowing them an opportunity to make last minute changes if necessary! Personally, I got fed up with all the confusion uncertainty and delays and bought a 2 month old 2011 300 for a great price. Im gonna stick with this bike till the 2012 has had time to A) reach the market B) Prove that it is as good as the 2011 and C) sort out that air filter issue, because want a bike with that on it! If I have to wait till 2013 for that, I will, because anything that makes maintenance easier is gonna win me over! Plus, im always a little wary of brand new models, I reckon 12 months of other people riding them and ironing out the kinks will be good for me :)
