New 2012 or wait for 2013

I will have enough cash in a couple of weeks to trade up to a 2012 ec300 electric start , in the uk they come with the sachs front and rear , how come you guys in the US got mazzochi/ohlins ?.
We just had a ?300 reduction in price here to clear this years bikes , does that mean the 2013 is due soon? , are there going to be any changes that would make it worthwhile waiting ...... I hate waiting though:rolleyes:

The suspension was part of the terms that Clay pushed for to get the US the Marz and Ohlins. Australia pushed for the same and came out good too! In saying that the Sachs is well capable and regardless of which set you get a tune will make them both worlds better.

As for waiting for 2013.. Being this late in the year I'd probably try and sit it out.. Depends how badly you want the bike :D

In the US, there isn't likely to be a price drop or a model change.

If you need a bike now (to have enough time to set it up), I'd get one now.

Thanks all , iv been looking at the release dates for the last 4 years and they are erattic to say the least , i might call gas gas uk and see if they will give me some hints as to when the 2013 will arrive and what changes, clay did hink a while ago that they would only be minor .
Steve plain who is danny mcannys team guy told me not to bother with the racing model (marz/ohlins ) unless i was at expert level or chapionship level , which im not:rolleyes:

Get the Race model, you won't be disappointed.

As far as I can tell, there will be absolutely no differences between the '12 and '13 other than some changes to stronger plastic and the way the two shroud pieces attach. All of those things will go on a '12 if you want to upgrade. The '13 won't be here until September. Buy it now while you can get it. Besides....Gas Gas kind of screwed up the dealers and distributors with shipping bikes this late. I can absolutely tell you that we would really, really appreciate it if you guys would buy the '12s and help move them out rather than waiting on the '13s. :D
I have no experience with the Sachs on the '12s but I hear it is pretty good. I can tell you that I think the Zoke/Ohlins is awesome.

Iffin I needed a new bike in the summer (now) during the northing riding season, there is now way I would wait 3+ months until late September to get a bike.

However, I'm in Arizona where our riding season are reversed. Almost like Australia, only sideways. For that and a few other personal reasons, waiting until September for me is a calculated risk that I will probably partially regret as I rush to get the bike ready for the first races in October.

That being said, I'm tempted to wait until 2015 when Gas Gas finalizes the Stuckey Replica 125. It'll come stock under-sprung (because Clay always lies about his weight), bold new graphics with colors that oddly clash, and a few extra loose screws.

Speaking northern riding season, shouldn't you be up north on this beautifully clear weekend?

Almost all of Flagstaff trails got closed by the US Forest Service because someone neglected to put them on the Travel Management Plan.

We are looking for alternatives.

The only thing that is making me hesitate is that if I buy a 12it will depreciate twice in the first year .

Make your deal with that in mind. Both you and the dealer can do math. Ask to see the invoice. Give him a bit of profit for his efforts. Go ride.

Lots and lots of loose screws and a beer holder......

Its sounds perfect! If you can get them to ship these stubby holder models to Australia Gas Gas Spain will see record sales! Throw in a free carton of beer with every bike sold and it'll be a frenzy!

Just heard today the 2013 four strokes are due here next month with the 2 strokes to follow shortly afterwards 😃

If you going to go with the sachs just make sure you have identified a good tuner to get them to work (this is based on my experience with the 2010's)
mine are now a world different from what they were thanks to two-wheels, and possibly the best i have ever had, but i had to go without them for a bit more than a month since i could not get anyone to revalve them (revalve, not re-guess) them localy

From what I have read the 12 fork is much better than the 09/10 , I'm looking at a few options , if the 2013 does come in August that will appeal the most 😍

I'll probably hold off until the 2013s. I was really pushing to get a bike this past winter/spring but spend my cash on a new Mountain Bike instead.. silly me..
