NEW. GASGAS Cami 250F

I would like to see them in Europe too.:D
Entry level bikes are the best thing a mc company can do for their buisness.
BUT! Only if they put in a reliable engine, like the crf and ttr's, even they are all build in Brazil, they prove to be very reliable, I hope the gasser engine will be good, otherwise it could damage the brand name:eek:..

Now they just have to fill the gap, with both a race and a entry level kid's bike, so they can get brand loyal fans from early age, my son started on a Yamaha ttr90, and now have a ttr125 and he only want to change it for another Yamaha:rolleyes:... but when he get's big enugh, he want's a...
Gasgas:cool:

I agree with much of what you are saying Glenn its hard to deal with and China does not play far. I don't like the Chinese production thing either for anything but most people around this country don't seem to care. It makes it difficult to compete. I don't think the bike will come here by the sounds of it. Was the engine designed by Gas Gas or just used by them?

I have no idea, first time I saw this was here. I have no problem with GG doing what they are doing, If its not here it doesn't matter. I would think however, that there are some unemployed Spaniards that care. It would be nice to be able to build those motors in Spain, but it would have to be done at a cost (and wages) that are likey well below what the worker there feels they are entitled to.

The problem with China "not playing by the rules" is nothing new. Most developing countries do that. Take a look at the early American industrial revolution. When we were developing our mass manufacturing, which we have now mostly abandoned, we copied the Brits, Germans, Dutch, heck, we copied everyone. Eventually we came to produce the best of most things, now we have moved it overseas. A big reason that Japan attacked Pearl Harbor was that we and the Brits had our Navies running around Indonesia and China sinking and looting Japanese ships and restricting Japanese imports while refusing to import their goods to the US.

At times, every nation works in direct support of their national interests and says "screw you, international law"! We do it, they do it, everyone does it. Right or wrong, it happens. China currently has the cheap labor with a large unemployed population, is just starting to implement their own internal laws and is just now beginning to be able to control it's own borders from inside and outside influence. China has provinces, much like our states but much larger, that don't even to this day respect or adhere to the central government. They have people living there in remote regions that don't even know how to speak provincial Mandarin Chinese! There are at least 27 languages other than Mandarin spoken and some people have never the official Chinese national language. We think Cajuns and New Yorkers talk funny, at least they speak some forn of English!

Chinas economy is growing so quickly that it is impossible for the central government to manage it. Their middle class is just developing. In some places they are still using a barter trade system and don't even use the national currency! Until the fall of the Soviet Union their national focus was on not being invaded by Russia, and they were and still are incredibly scared of the US. We look at China as a huge autonomous nation with a strong army and central government. True. But they have almost no Navy, and the government is only recently being able to really control parts of their country. There are many people who don't pay taxes, and many who don't even know they are supposed to.

What does all this sound like? The US in about the year 1870.

Beleive it or not, China is progressing incredibly quickly considering the problems it faces. What is the most favored motorcycle in China? Harley Davidson! The most favored car there is the Corvette! Very few people own them, but everyone wants them. If you ask the average urban Chinese guy what his favorite country is, he'll say the US. They are copying us, yet ask the average rural Chinese guy from a remote province, he won't even be able to point out the US on a map. He probably couldn't even point out China either.

Fastest growing religion in China? Christianity. Foreign language most often learned? English. Country most often immigrated to? US. Biggest trading partners? US and UK. Nation from which they import the most technology? US, although India and Pakistan are catching up.

Yes, China often acts without agreement from the rest of the world. Often they don't care about international law, and they should care. They are beginning to understand that they need support from other nations.

Here's something to think about: If you are walking down the street in the US and get robbed or mugged at gunpoint, what happens? Will anyone come to your aid? If you are a foreigner in the US, you think you'll get any help? In most places in China if a person sees anyone, Chinese or not, being robbedhe will yell for help, and EVERYONE will immediately chase after the bad guy. He'll have 30 men and women chasing him down and if they catch him, they'll beat the crap out of him, then take him to the police. And they will make sure you get your property back, they won't keep it or say they didn't find it. They make some shoddy products right now, and aren't on track with international law but they are getting better very quickly.

I'd rather buy a Chinese product, if it is reasonably well made, than one made in Mexico. Talk about a lawless nation!

Wow, sounds like the words of a real sympathizer.:mad: Ever been there? I hear the dog killing festival is lovely.:( Communist nation with a horrible human rights record, that I choose not to help grow. Enough said.

I am not a fan of supporting China at all.

They can make a good product though. Steve Christini is using a Chinese 450 4T engine in his AWD 450, and it seems solid. It can be done. It's just too bad that we abandoned our nations ability to make and compete with the best production in the world. I don't know how we can ever regain that status.

Great pics recently came out of china where they ran over a farmer with a steamroller who did not want to sell his family farm for the government to give it to build a factory. They then paid the family for killing the family elder.. Sounds like the tank in the square a number of years ago... has not changed much.. del maybe worse. My F-I-L was there in a hotel watching the tank roll over students while on the phone with his boss.. planning a way out.. The country aids companies who steal designs and break international patents. Anybody who send something there to be built should expect it to be sent back at 1/2 the price as a competition.. as Honda.. they have lots of issues with transmissions due to the china factory.. the 50cc engine.. that went so well for honda.. now you can get chinacopy xr50's at pepboys as door prizes..

That said.. The bike looks cool and an entry level bike for the emerging markets to sell there is a good idea.. be nicer with a spanish mill.. hope they just buy a mill and not have them make a GG design mill.. Most likely a china made to order engine.. can get them so easy anymore..

Sad what is happening isn't it? Wait till round two of Obamanation, think he has any use for us?

I hope there isn't a round two . As far as the built in China powered GG....not for me or mine. I think an entry level GG is a good idea but not this way.

Re: the water rights news- Those laws were written almost 100 years ago to protect water rights of local communities. Not that I want to drag this discussion further into the mud, but that particular Oregon case started in 2002. Please frame your argument within the correct time frame for validity and don't let any prejudices you have cloud your vision of the actions of a few. I am guilty of this as well, and I try to research my way to the facts and then draw conclusions. Here is an article that states fairly explicitly why the Oregon man was jailed for building ponds over the last decade. Not exactly as the movie link would lead you to believe- http://www.kpic.com/news/local/Eagle-Point-man-jailed-for-illegal-water-reservoirs-164206356.html

I see many misleading statements in the transcript of the Natural News video, so make sure you filter your news. It may not be exactly as it seems. As stated recently in a pop song-

And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want

Sorry for the soap-box, but I wanted to postulate there may be more to the actions than simple liberal vs conservative arguments, for both the GasGas reasoning behind using global suppliers and the fact that a man was jailed for breaking a 90-year-old law.

[/soap box]

Your right the US has it all figured out. Much better country than all the rest.

Yup,, that sucks!! why we need a bill of rights, lawyers and the 2nd amendment.. but its way better than countries that just kill land owners it doesnt like.. like say driving over them with steam rollers,, or students protesting with tanks.. not perfect here.. by a long shot.. but its better than the others.. for now..

Clay confirmed it in post 12. It's not for the US market they are going to be sold in SA. I wish GG would have built their own entry level air cooled 4 stroke play bike and shipped them over here ( TTR230 and CRF230 ) style bikes with a little better suspension and a little lighter. Of course it should cost more too but I think they would sell.

I agree. The 4 stroke trials engine would be great for a play bike if the gear ratios were changed. It is compact like a 2 stroke so the bike could be made lower without compromising ground clearance. You could have the size and ground clearance of the KTM free ride and the lower price and seat height of the CRF230. As a bonus the bike could be far lighter than either one. I would love to have that bike in my garage.
Another great engine option would be the 125 2stroke engine tuned for mild power. The frame could be used for a new 125 race bike that would sell like hot cakes because it would be somewhat smaller, lighter, and more compact than the other 125 options. Size would fall between the CRF230 and YZ125 but much closer to the YZ. Just think how popular a YZ125 would be if it's length was 2 inches shorter, seat was 2 inches lower, and weight was ten pounds lighter.

The chinese thing isnt new to GG as they had quads and i belive some small bikes before.

I only know a few people of Chinese descent that live in the US. I rode with one guy who lived in Ga and rode singletrack, but I could barely understand him. He needed to work on his English. He seemed to be a nice guy, hard worker, decent rider. He stopped to help me trailside when I was stopped, I appreciated that effort. He was an engineer working in Atlanta.

I do know one big family fairly well that moved to the US about 15 yrs ago. Everything that we say about China that we don't like, they agree with. It doesn't take most foreigners long to adapt to the American way of thinking once they get to understand what we stand for. Except for some of the people from right wing Muslim nations. Some of those folks adapt, some keep hating the US and our freedoms and ideas. But back to Chinese/Americans. They are more American than most people born here in many ways. They are pushing their former nation to become like the US as fast as possible. The family I know is mostly Christian, although some are still Buddhist but go to a Christian church about once a month with their relatives.

The family I know works as hard as anyone. They are extremely patriotic and pro American. They all either have gotten their citizenship or are working on it as fast as possible. They go back to visit relatives in China, but would never move back. They are trying to get China to modernize and get rid of their old Communist and Socialist views. They buy mostly American products when they can afford them.

I'm kinda liking the direction China is headed. They have a long way to go, but overall they are copying us in the US and trying to reform their nation as fast as possible. We need to keep in mind that the average Chinese had zero knowledge of the West until the 1970s. There was no travel, media coverage, they were completely isolated. From the 1980s until today, they have begun a rapid effort to move our direction in politics, media, religion, engineering, etc. They have a long way to go but they are moving forward. What I have noticed is any people who use logic and fact based reasoning in their basic everyday thinking ends up liking the way we do things. The Chinese are some of the most logical and fact based thinkers I have met. They are a nation of engineers, mathmaticians, mechanics, buiilders, etc. and the average Chinese citizen idolizes the US and wants to reform China into some form of Representative Democratic Republic. I think that will happen in the next 50 years.

But they still can't make good carburetors.

Don't think anybody on here and for sure not me are hating or the Chinese people just their products and way of doing business. I saw on 60 minutes or 20/20 where they will send an order in for CNC machinery for say 20/30 machines, then get one shipped, and then cancel the order on the rest. After that they then pulll the one down they did get to copy and make the rest themselves. I saw on a Top Gear show where they are coping various high end cars and sport utilities vehicles; just plain copying them. The only difference is they are re-named and IMO probably made cheaper. I just don't go well with copycats or cheap made junk. I'll pay more to get something that's well made and made using fair business practices. Again I'm not slamming on the Chinese people or GasGas. The bike we are talking about here won't even be comming to NA. Heck my next bike will most likey be a GG.
