The WR was sitting right next to it. It appears to be the same bike with different muffler(not sure), headlight, odometer, skid plate and rear tailight. It probably has some emiisions crap and a throttle stop too.

There was a new YZ 250 two stroke sitting around the corner from the two new Yamahas. Its hard to describe how old and outdated that the old YZ looked next to the new bikes. If yamaha would just update the two stroke engine a little and put it in the new chassis they would have a beast of a bike.

Correct me if I am wrong but the WE and yzfx have a different motor setup don't they? They way I understand it the yzfx has the motocross engine and the WR has the tuned down version

Nice pics! They look the goods. Now to get approval. Hahah

The WR is much more practical for me, but it has got a milder engine setup. If I'm getting a 250F I want strong and aggressive, which will still be soft compared to my 2T.

Lets see where this goes.

Wr has smaller exhaust cam and a throttle stop, grey wire, and a few other small things. I have a gasgas 250f and with a few tweaks it ran identical to the same year yzf (2006) I have.

That being said the 2012-13 had an improved head and 39mm fcr to go with the 2010 geometry changes. Other than sitting a little high for my short legs it is one heck of a bike. I got one of those too.

The 2014 brought the reverse engine (smart) however they moved the power delivery more to the mid range and top end. Again more mass centralization. My suspicion is the current ECU and 6 speed give it a more enhanced low end while maintaining enough of the mid to high to be perfectly suited for woods racing.

All that being said. I think the GG will still be more fun and easier to ride in slow technical stuff, but if you wanna go fast through the woods I am much faster on a 2013 yz20f with just bark busters. I also believe the YZ250fx will be a better setup still. Giving 20 extra pounds to the YZ is gonna be tough though. A 13yz with a 399 rekluse may be the hot ticket. Who knows till we ride one.

Just one man's opinion

From those pics the two models have the same suspension travel. As stated on Dbw I think the specs have been muddled with the wr250r. I would bet that they tune the bike down with exhaust cam and mapping. The wr will be a cracker.

Edit: They have updated the website, the wr has 13.5:1 engine and same travel as fx 258 lb wet (117kg)

Yep, its a 9 pound difference, not bad at all.
