Newer Plastic on Older GasGas show your bike

It's been a year since I brought my beaten up 1997 EC 250 and I only managed to ride it twice before she want bang, having very limited knowledge I asked a trusted mechanic to do a complete nut & bolt rebuild for me, so far she's had...

Transformation kit fitted
2011 tank
frame powdercoated
frame mods
Swing arm powdercoated
wheels powder coated and respoked
Complete engine rebuild bar the conrod
2007 Marzocchi 45ml forks & clamps
Apico foot pegs
Side Stand
Air filter
Brake pedal
DEP Exhaust system (awaiting pipe)
Mirrors
New hose kit
Wheel spindle
Cooling head mount 2010 which is lower profile so tank fits easyer

I can't work out how to attach proper size pictures or attach more than one thumb nail per post.... Hence one post one pic.

Very nice. She looks great. I think you will like those forks. I love mine, but they have had a custom revalve to suite my riding "style".

Let us know how it goes after you get some time on it.

.

Cheers fella's truth be told I probably could have got a 11 plate the money I spent on her but what the hell I don't regret it.

Re the forks I'm really happy with them I got really lucky on ebay the fella wanted ?110 for them ! Once I had them I had the internals checked and got told everything is sweet , I like the fact they black and match the frame also:)
I'm doing my first practice enduro next month, and can't wait to try them out.

I do want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me in other posts modifying the frame/what forks & yokes to use etc.
without this forum the bike would still look like it did in the first picture
So cheers for all the advice !

Does anyone know where these kits can still be had for a decent price? The price seems to keep getting higher and higher. Its up to $620 at motocross center and Greenlandmx, and gofasters wants a ridiculous $800 for it.

Here's the lasted picture

You would never know that bike is 17 yrs. old. Very nice looking. I like the frame and swingarm powder coated. I'm to lazy to pull mine down to bare bones to get it done and that the wife could care less about the color of her frame.

I do wish they would bring back that CB motor, it's just an absolute sweetheart you can barely tell when they are running they are so smooth.

Cheers desertgasser300, I kind of got to the point of no return with it once I brought the transformation kit and forks I thought I might as well complete the bike, bar the engine case and some other parts it's a brand new bike, and the fact all the parts are still available or can be updated it was a no brainer.
I will post some more pictures once she 100% complete.

Here's a pic of my 2007/8 (need to find out which) EC300 with the 2011 upgrade kit. I'm not happy with the long range tank which sits too high and pushes the shrouds out, so I have a standard tank that I will be fitting next.

Nice bike Ryderod.

Pity it is not worth me doing my 04 200EC to newer plastics. Will cost me just short of 10K to do that with sticker kit. Then I would rather sell the 200 and get a newer model.

For sure, for that cost getting a newer model would just make far more sense. BTW, a few of us Gas Gas riders are going to Wild West this Saturday, I'm not sure where you're from, but if you are close and free, you are welcome to join in..

Unfortunately I live far from there. PE. I will probably be putting my reed valve, new jets and needle plus rear bearings and spacers in this weekend. Hopefully the following weekend I will be taking the bike with to go to various checkpoints to watch the Winterberg Enduro.

Hopefully. I think the 200 is probably the wrong bike for me too started out to learn enduro on. Just not jelling with it. I should have waited for a 250 or something with power lower down to rather be available. This 200 was an impulsive buy.

I'm really loving the 300s for tech riding, nice and low for my low stature, and heaps of bottom grunt..

Cool. I need the grunt to get my overweight body up the hills.:o

If the 200 sells quickly I might be able to pic up an 07 250EC
