I just bought a 2003 ec 250, have no manual, and one of the previous owners didnt put the seat on right. where there is a channel on the front of the seat underneath, they neglected to put on correctly. The thing is, i dont know how to take the seat off. i havn't had time to tinker with it and i dont really feel like accidentally breaking it. All that i need to know is how to take the seat off.

Seems simple enough. Remove the two seat bolts and pull straight up on the back, just far enough to clear the tabs, then pull straight back. It may be stuck, but it's likely stuck on the aluminum knob on the fuel cell itself. Maybe seat cover material????? Who knows? It may take a few whacks down and back on the front end of the seat. If all else fails, take the exhaust off, then loosen the subframe and airbox to the carburetor and pull the whole thing loose. Getting the top bolts out of the subframe may be tricky with the seat and tank on, but it can be done.

ok. and the problem is that the front is NOT connected. theres a knob thats supposed to sit in the channel to hold the front down and previous owner didnt put it on right. i havnt done much digging into it, i havnt had time. but thanks!

The plastic channel in the seat pan might also be worn out to the point that it doesn't catch the aluminum "knob" securely. I had that problem on my '05 MC 250. I pop riveted a u-shaped chunk of aluminum into the channel to reinforce it.
