Radiator Shroud Pin Repair

I have found a pretty good way to repair the radiator shroud pins when they crack.
1. Clean the plastic.
2. Drill several small holes (1/16") in the pin and through the outside of the shroud. This will allow for the epoxy to flow into them and hold more securely.
3. Fill the pin with JB weld.

Forget about those. Put a post through the grommets of the rad, M6 threaded on both sides, stud in one side that threads into frame mount. Thread a rubber isiolator into the end of the post, drill and bolt the shroud to the other side of the isolator. End of shroud trouble and adds excellent side protection. Just set up another '12 like this for my buddy. Mcmaster has hex posts the perfect length, all you have to do is redrill and tap the 10-32 holes for M6. I'll folow up with part #s if your interested.

Hey Glen,

That is about what I did on the other side where the pin broke off completely. I installed another aluminum radiator protection mount / pin in the top radiator mount and drilled a corresponding hole through the shroud. I agree it is much more secure.

I just do it top/bottom before I ride the bike. It also works with rad braces.

Here are some Mcmaster part#s :

91780A206 - 5'' aluminum hex standoff
9232k15 - rubber isolator, 1"H

While I was in my order history some oring #s:

9262K794 - 3.5x21 BunaN (linkage/swingarm)
9262K787 - 3.5x15 BunaN (pre '12 lower shock mount)
9263K739 - 44x3 Viton (exhaust)

Here is a '12 setup going together:

Those look great! And they are easier to install and remove than the round ones!
