Rear Disc Guard for '10 GG

Just bought an XC 300 and as usual, having difficulty trying to find compatible aftermarket stuff. Somewhere I thought I saw that someone said a rear disk carrier for a KTM, would fit the GG? Can anyone verify this?

I like to buy as much stuff from my local dealer who handles mostly Parts Unlimited and Moose stuff.

Perhaps take a chance on the really nice and beefy Scotts shark fin. They don't list one for the 2010 but I'm wondering if GG has changed anything back there in years. Look up the OEM caliper carrier part # from 2007-2010 and see if it's got different #'s. If not you should be good to go.

I saw the Scotts and it looks like a nice piece, but if I can use a Moose carrier for a KTM, it will cost me about $50 less.

Can't recall anyone ever mentioning the KTM guard fitting the GG. I've been wrong plenty of times though:D

From Scott's?

Any manufacturer will work.
The mounting points are flat. You can drill your own holes in the shark fin to make it work.
The OEM shark fin mounting points won't hold up to severe rock riding. You will have to have the shark fin welded on to the OEM brake caliper mount.

Girard,

I think he means the one piece unit that replaces the carrier. I have this and its excellent, but because its retained by the swingarm its a GG specific application so I doubt a Honda part would work.

2whlrcr,
I suspect there will be one available in the near future, but the other option that I have used for years is to weld a generic shark fin like the Moose or MSR to the OEM GG carrier. I repeat WELD, the bolt ons are a joke at least in rock country and will snap the tabs off the carrier in short order. Its a cheap and effective solution.

Enduro Engineering will be making a rear shark fin for our bikes along with a host of other fine products they produce. Just for us Gas Gas guys.

If its a bolt on fin with holes to match the carrier its no better than a generic and will have to be welded as discussed. A single piece billet unit like the Scotts/BRP would be much better.

I have a piece of hdpe plastic, plastic cutting board, bolted to the stock tabs. It has taken lots of hits and bends before the tabs break.

OK.
You can use the pre 2009 caliper mount from Scotts, you'll have to use the older caliper.Which is better IMO due to the increased brake fluid capacity.
