Sealed main bearings?

OK so just heard from my Friend and it was the main bearing that had seized solid on the clutch side, the seal was intact but inside the cage was blue and there was no sign of grease. We have done some asking around and it seems this is not an isolated case here in the UK with reports of several 10 and 11 model suffering the same fate. It seems i will have to strip mine down now and remove the seals before it locks up on me!!!!

If your going through all that trouble(and I do agree with you) just replace the ignition side with the roller and the clutch side with the highest grade ball bearing available.

Could the seal have looked intact but actually leaked grease slowly as it spun to the outside under centrifugal force? Its either that, or a QC problem at the bearing factory. Please tell me they are not cheap Chineese bearings.

Neil, cases are the same so just look in the '07 parts manual for the open bearing part #s.

LOL, I wasn't looking for the size, I wanted to know if he could get a manufacturer's name off the bearing. I'm curious to know whose bearings GasGas is getting.

I'd rather pay more and get the bike with quality bearings and top notch suspension parts. Long term reliability is more important to me than "bold new graphics".

Yes I agree 100%, and from the GGs I've been into the bearings I could identify were all quality Euro (SKF, FAG) stock. I replace with same or NTN from a local supplier, no cheap stuff.
