Is it just me or are some of you folks wondering and waiting for the GG bikes to actually hit north America?
has anyone actually seen a new gasgas yet?
Im in the market for a new bike, and if I knew there was a new gasgas headed this way, I might not be thinking about switching brands? Anyone have any info that might make me cool my jets and be patient for a while?

Maybe you could post a selfie on one to make him feel better.

Not with speedos though, that's probably a step too far.

Help Us, help you

I am very dissappointed at the lack of knowing, in regards to the US market right now on the forum. We use facebook on a daily basis, along with working with all the magazines, tests, photo shoots and the website, and try to inform everyone as much as possible. Almost every GG dealer has new 17's on their showroom floor, with more bikes coming.

Canada is taking a bit to get the dealers comfortable and to ship enduro bikes, but if you take a look at the dealer locator and find a dealer near you, go to them and tell them your interested in a GG but want to see it on their floor. This will help.

ggrider.org was kind enough to give us a separate section for announcements and there will be a newsletter sign up soon on the new website as well.

So other suggestions (kind ones) to keep everyone informed would be valuable, please let us know more how to spread the word? Within reason, of course.

This forum has been completely dead for over a year. I usually check in every couple of days by clicking the "new posts" tab... And often there are only four or five threads that have been posted in.

Really, the HUGE drop off felt like it happened after Rod moved on. Meaningful, enthusiastic communication from people "in the know" seemed to completely stop.

I'd really like to see more activity here as well.

That said, I "like" almost every Facebook post... Me and about 75 other people. There needs to be a HUGE effort to get NEW followers of your Facebook page. Promotions maybe?

Mark, thanks for taking the time to respond. I would like to point out there are a lot of folks who don't use Facebook for various reasons with me being one of them. It would be nice if a subset of that information could make it to this Forum on a somewhat regular basis.

A great deal of corporate IT depts flag social media like FaceBook. You may not be getting the desired exposure due to that reason.

I TOTALLY agree with this, I get my info here.

It was AWESOME having Rod "here for us" it would go a long way for the brand to have that level of involvement on this site

Social media is the fastest way to get news in this age. But if numerous forum goers refuse to use it then I suggest the forum generates a feed from torrot's social media sites. The announcements will probably help too from the torrot website.

I have known Matto has had gasgas on his floor for weeks thanks to Facebook.

This is a very interesting topic and the smaller traffic on this site is not necessarily unique to just Gasgas rider. Forums in general have been really gone downhill IMO in the last couple of years. Some seem to have almost dried up all together.

Not sure the reason why, but I'm sure social media plays a role.

For me, it's frustrating because I used the forums to learn, and try to pass on valuable information that can be used to help with riding, maintenance, bike reports, ride reports, gear, tuning , etc. I received tons of great advice from guys who actually rode over the years and enjoyed posting.

Now, the forums have become less about that and more like, "Facebook for old guys". More opinions and arguing over stupid stuff than ever before. Threads constantly derailed by "well, you're an idiot if you do that". It's less here, but it's definitely something that is prevalent. You look at these guys profiles and realized they are older guus who don't ride much, but spend all day on these forums spouting off their opinions.

I hate social media and refuse to take part in that mess, so I guess I'm stuck to just riding and sharing information with my buddies who actually ride and have a passion for our sport.

Just my observations over the past couple years. Yes, Rod did a nice job on here with keeping everyone up to date. Just not sure forums are the future of communication.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Facebook has pretty much kicked the shit out of most forums and it's a shame as forums usually have way more members than face book groups and the information is so much cleaner and more organized. But unfortunately the young kids are not into forums so most race and organized trail event info has been moved over to facebook. That and Facebook is much simpler to create a page and manage for an organizer than creating a web site for the tech layman.

I use facebook, but not religiously, and not for technical info. I am of the opinion that Facebook is mostly geared for those looking for entertainment, to catch up with friends and relatives, or for those with a short attention span.
I try to check in there every 3 to 5 days; when i get a chance. (I use a computer for most internet stuff. I don't access Facebook, twitter, Instagram, or any of the other "instant" apps with my smart phone.)

I guess that I'm an old phart, who has trouble reading the small screen, and doesn't like the inability to open multiple pages or tabs when browsing on the iphone.

Compared to the excellent organization of information and posts on here, Facebook is almost useless for keeping track of ride and product reports, and completely useless for finding tech info that was shared a year ago.

Thank you all for coming to this site to help others with your interests by sharing in your posts.

Good Riding and posting!

Mark,
I completely agree with Chris on this.
Please take the time to make any announcements on here, as well as where you normally make them.

I get an email message any time someone adds a reply to my subscribed threads, and am going to try and see if i can set up my preferences so that I can get an email notification every time someone starts a new message thread. I honestly don't know at this time if it is possible.

I'm sure you could have a spot on the forum to post announcements regarding your inside knowledge of what is going on with bikes, events, and such that pertain to GasGas.

Kudos!
Jim

It's a tricky one alright. It would be a real shame to loose the sharing culture where people from all over the world would take the time to write up advice, or put together photos or videos, all for the assistance or enjoyment of strangers on the web.

I've been advised that I should be using social media for my small business, but where does it end ? Linkedin, twitter, facebook, google+, I don't even own a smartphone, nor particularly want one, and it gets time consuming for a one man operation to be forever stopping work to reply to some comment and post photos. Surely a web page and phone should be enough.

Be interesting to see where it all goes in the future.
