The Gasser

My wife rides and I have 6 bikes so I don't really need to seek permission.
My wife also rides but she has only one bike now. I have some more, but we have reached an agreement that I sell one bike for each one I buy. That sometimes works, but I don't find one to sell every time. On the other hand, our two sons seem to have picked up the habit of having several bikes. They don't sell very often either. Right now, they have 3x EC300, one EC200, RS250, DRZ400 and RM125 among them.

You now have a race team :)

Yes, I do :-) Its named Kvenna Racing Team.

We all go racing in the local enduros. Also in the team is a couple about the age of our kids, he is on a Husaberg te125 while she rides a Ktm 200exc. Our daughter also rides some mx and enduro on her rm125, but she usually don't do any races (as a mother of a 6 months old kid its hard to find the time).

I am thinking that also, but I have also been in contact with dealers that sell both Gas Gas and Beta. They are really pushing the Beta has the much more refined bike  I have a feeling that the 15 Gas Gas will be more on par with the Beta`s, but I could be wrong.

The insurance story is interesting: I called them last Thursday when it happened. On Saturday someone called, took all the info and I emailed 25 pictures of the bike and the SCUM BAG who stole the bike along with the van etc. I called on Monday and the insurance person it was assigned to would be out till the end of September ??? Really?? They were going to have someone call me back. The next I called again and they had assigned it to the personal injury division?? Really?? I know I pay a premium to have State Farm, but this is ridiculous!!! So I am going to call them again today and I am sure the excuse will be that this is going to be a long weekend and nothing will start until next week.

I find the comments from the dealers interesting. I have Beta that is a great bike but after riding it a year I say it is just different than my '11 GasGas. If I would buy new now the GasGas would get a serious look. I have no idea what I would choose but it would not be an easy decision.

I also found it interesting, but my riding buddies who have had Gassers in the past. Say their Beta is the best 2T they have owned so far. But we are also talking a difference between an 11 300 and an 08 300 Gas Gas. I have to say that I really like having a bike that very few people have. It does make it harder getting new and used parts. But I loved my 11 300EC and I hated my KTM 300XC. I am open to at this point. I am even open to the right used bike.

I have a 2011 Race with the 48mm forks and it is substantially better than my 2005. My Beta also has the 48mm Zokes. What the Beta really did right is the bikes run perfect right off the floor. I know why dealers like them! My GasGas required some tuning to make it what it is today -Which is really good. I'm off to Colorado tomorrow with the Beta. We'll see how it does in the mountains.

By the way the GasGas forum has a lot more information and has input globally. I like the input from around the globe. Europe truly has a lot of off road talent that is showcased every year in SixDays.

You bet:D

I looked at that Beta in person a while back and it's a beautiful bike. I've heard nothing but great reviews on the Betas and it seems like they are very woods oriented bikes similar to Gasgas. I'd love to try one.

I've debated buying a new bike several times. Not at a point in life where it's very feasible and these used Gassers I've got are such great bikes.

Bill's may get my business someday soon though with the E-start EC200!

If you get the beta, be sure to get the race version with the red forks they are suposed to be the shiznit

I have only on gripe with my 12'. The rear brake pedal is very fragile, I have snapped two so far. The last time which was recent I just left it off since I have the LHRB. I changed my plastic sub-frame only because I was offered a one-time low price on it. Other then that I had no issues with the sub-frame. There was alot of loudness going on on here about the sub-frame, but the owner of it didn't break his, he just didn't like the design I'm assuming?

I've snapped on as well, at the tang going to the slave cyl plunger, the 2014 pedal is a lot meatier and outside the frame, with less angle on the tang.....stronger by exactly heaps.

If ktm/husqvarna made a six speed bike with their mx geometry and an enduro engine, I frankly would by one if it had 4cs forks, I've ridden kato's a lot lately and the only things that I don't like are the steep steering head angle and the weird bar to peg setup that makes compact rm 2 strokes look roomy. The 2013 350 motor is the best 4t I've ever ridden and apart from the engine braking feels like a gg 2t engine in power deliv. The fit and finish is great, the seat is awesome, the shock is awesome, the brakes are good but the rear is too touchy.

They don't though. And they wouldn't get the stable but still turns thing happening that ggs and yamahas have, so I ride ggs ( and love the quirky pricks of things that they are!)

Go have a look see on the Beta forum. Alot of the guys are swapping out to the KYB'S. and I believe a couple of those had the red zokes.

It looks like the limited edition Gas Gas has the same red zokes as the Beta. One of my buddies got the race edition and loves the forks. The other passed and saved himself $1000, so he went to Les to have the Sachs made better. He is really happy with them so far.

Even sicker bike!! Comes stock with all the good stuff.
