im at a loss. 2004 EC300, recent complete new topend(S3 barrel piston & head). went for a nice 4 hr ride. came home washed the bike put it away till the next weekend when the next ride was planned, got to the track and bike dead. checked spark none so thought plug was gone. replaced plug nothing still. stuffed around with wires removed all kill switch wires from bike(unpluged from CDI), sanded earth places. now have good strong spark(will junp 5mm plus the plug gap and crisp blue) thought sweet im off but got nothing. pulled carby cleaned and checked float level, put back together. i have nice strong spark, i have fuel, i have compression(170psi roughly) but i have no bang. i am getting to the point of pouring fuel over it and burning it. can anyone give me any insight TIA

Do a leak down test to make sure the crank case is well sealed,
Check the reeds for damage. Make sure the muffler isn?t blocked, (broken baffle etc) mine did that first ride.

Well at least try some spray ether engine start. Remove filter and spray in carb.

If it starts clean carb.

Just because you have spark doesn't mean it's strong enough to spark under cylinder pressure. I would be willing to bet it's still an electrical problem since this is what started this unless you somehow got water in the carb. I would be checking stator output and checking the ignition coil.

Also is the plug coming out wet? Dripping? It might have a crankcase of fuel from a flooding carb or fuel tap left on whilst trailering. Gassers have a nice Allen bolt in the cases to drain and check.

@SS109 do you mean check voltage coming out of stator? the stator resistance is with FSM spec, as stated the spark is jumping across a gap of at least 5mm(tool a gocarting mate gave me) that i placed between plug lead and plug whilst plug is in the engine so that there is load
@Gasser Nate reeds are new as replaced them with the new top end, how to do leakdown test ill research thx
@(F5) was the 1st thing i tried mate good sugestion

guys thx for the responses

Maybe have a look and see if the stator has rotated and the timing is off. Maybe you had it off when doing the previous work and it didn’t get tightened?

well ive had a little win i got some bang. not much but enough for me to not burn it. @Gasser Nate that allen bolt was the ticket. got quite a bit of fluid out from that, mainly oily. drained that flushed with staight fuel(syringe squirt back up) then nothing in carby bowl, aerostart and bang she went. i have to wait till tomorrow to check and see if sparking still an issue as still wouldnt run, my fuel is over 8 weeks old so could be contibuting and not 100% if carby is flooding although im inclinded to discount that as did a full carby clean and set float. going to get some new fuel but b4 putting that in going to make sure it fires a few time on the earostart. i havent pulled the flywheel as yet but everything lines up with the sensor and flywheel with TDC so still possible for timing out but dont think so
thx guys

Good to hear matey. How oily? Like leaking transmission side crankseal oily? Has your gearbox oil level dropped? Or smell like fuel?

shes a goer again, "happy as a pig in shit".as said left it open overnight gave it quite a few kick with the eather and fired did that 4 times b4 putting my regular mix of fuel/oil in. let a very little bit flow into carb and i mean a little bit. gave her some eather and as soon as she fired turned the fuel on, ran very crappy and smoky for a good 10 mins b4 could give it WOT without dying. but now runs fine went for a quick ride in the street and feels great no misses or anything. turned it off and restarted it a few times. tomorrow will be the big test from cold again.
@Gasser Nate nah the oil was green(2stroke) and my transoil is red, good sign it not that seal i guess lol and the jets well i know 100% they are tight i may have to resett the float so more fuel goes in now though as WOT its starts to starve. the riding i do though im not that worried atm
thanks everyone for the help, without it i would've lost a good sum of cash and personal enjoyment.

ended up being a shitty stator. put the multimeter on it and was pretty much spot on with specs, just gave shitty spark. new stator and started 1st kick and was so easy to start. so ive got a spare coil and RM125 based CDI now lol. now i have a PV problem as my new thread states im sure im destined to not ride this thing much
