2010 Gas Gas EC250 Six Days

Is the silencer on the 07 a TC2 WITH the S/A or is it a Powercore with no S/A? If it's a Powercore that would explain the difference in shorter length.

Powercores are listed on the FMF site up to 06 bikes but maybe they fit 07's as well and that's whats on your bike???

You can't see it in the picture but behind the tape measure on the 07 the sticker says "FMF turbine core 2".

Follow up

Just thought I'd post a little follow up now that I have 4 or 5 good rides on the bike:
- I'm now running a 168 main, 35 pilot and the stock needle on the second groove from the top. It pulls very strong from right off the bottom with a controllable midrange hit when it comes on the pipe. There is a little spooging but not bad, I will probably go a little leaner when it warms up outside.
- This bike has heavier springs than the 07 for sure. It is set up well for either an agressive lighter guy or not so agressive heavier guy. The sag numbers were a little off for me at 165lbs but it works good as long as I'm riding it hard. If I'm puttsing around it is a little harsh.
- The racing motor with the heavy ignition work REALLY good together. The motor is very powerful but hard to stall and gets great traction. The bike is deceptively fast because of the smooth power and quiet silencer, one of the few bikes I have had that I have not wanted to change anything about the motor. It would appear that all the Canadian models are coming with the heavy ignition and full wiring harness, even the racing models, is this the same for everywhere else? Most stuff I've read has said the six days and racing models are supposed to come with the light ignition and reduced wiring harness, but not here for some reason. (I'm not complaining):D

Your jetting seems quite lean to me, especially for cold weather.
If I may ask...
What slide is in the carb, and what needle and clip groove are you using?

With a #7 slide, I normally run a 42 pilot with a 178 main in cool weather, and may drop to a 175 when it's really hot. (I am running a N1EG needle with the clip in the 2nd groove from the top.) The bike spooges just a bit, but not badly, and the bike runs really well (very smoothly). When I run the 175, the bike doesn't run out on top nearly as strong. I run good grade oil pre-mixed at 40/1 with 92 octane gas.

Just curious, thanks in advance.

It sure is a pretty bike.

Heres what i know about my 2010 250ec racing. This bike drinks fuel! I rode 40 miles or 64 km last sunday at 10c at 4000-5000 feet, and only had 150ml gas left!!!

heres my jetting 165 main
35 pilot
stock needle clip 2nd from the top
stock slide #7
btw i race A class.
With this jetting this bike is very crisp, and pulls so good... but 40 miles to 9.5 litres of gas, doesnt cut for me... how do you get better gas mileage of it.???

Check your float level. I'd bet money your losing your fuel out the float bowl over flow.

I know you guys are higher (elevation wise) in Alberta but your jetting sounds a little lean. Have you done any plug tests?

I was riding with Bowtech on Sunday, did the same ride and got almost identical mileage. I know the jetting seems lean, it's leaner than my 07, but I had a 42 pilot in it and it would barely run and was dripping out of the powervalve drain. I went down to the 35 pilot and I think it was a 170 main and it ran much better but the plug still showed a little rich, so I went down to the 168 main. It must be the new carb that requires leaner jetting, maybe RB designs has some insight? I will check the float level just to make sure that it's not out of whack.

What is everyone else out there with 2010's getting for mileage? Is this maybe a racing/six days issue?

I have a 2009 EC250 Racing (same carb as the 2010s). I was running a 45 pilot, JD blue needle in the 2nd clip, 180 main, #7 slide earlier this year with good results. Granted, I've been riding at 1500-2500 feet elevation (too much snow to get out of the valley bottoms) and temperatures ranging from around 5ºC up to about 25ºC. I'm going to switch to a 42 or 40 pilot, probably a 178 or 175 main jet when the weather warms up some more and I can start getting up to higher elevations.

2010 EC300 Racing.
40 Pilot, N1EF#1, 175 Main.

Plug chops indicate main is just about right. The needle is well rich though.

I leaned out to a N3EG on clip 2. Bike runs strong, but may be leaning out a bit too much on the main. Revs quick but doesn't feel to be pulling as strong.

I'm not sure if its me or not, bbut the engine also feels to be running warmer. Plugs look fine :S

i had a similar problem to this twice now. 2000 xc200 with 36mm carb. 170/40/2 turns/ddk/#5 slide/clip #2, was running fine, then went super rich on the bottom all of a sudden. ran through almost 5 gallons(!!!!) of gas in 2.5 hour race. i replaced float needle, lowered floats 2mm, and replaced a reed (1 was not sealing well.) this appeared to fix it. i'm not sure what the problem was exactly, but i think the float height and reed problem combination was the culprit, we shall see.....
