2013 300XC Sub Frame

I realize that the recent batch of issues with the late model bikes has been frustrating. Even Clay just posted he was frustrated by the situation...

...but please don't throw stones at each other. Everyone here should be treated with respect - and everyone should treat everyone as they would like to be treated.

I think everyone can agree on at least one thing - "Clay Stuckey is a damn good guy...

I have been working hard with GasGas (so has Clay) to get special pricing for our US customers. They have given us a special price of 100 euro's my cost per kit. Our great leaders in DC, keep spending more than we make so my cost after the weak dollar will be about $135. This is before shipping to me and I estimate due to the size of the boxes via boat (4-6 weeks) that my cost per box will be roughly $40...giving us a cost of $175 that we will pass on to dealers.

This will give the dealers an opportunity to work with their customers again and to assure everyone is involved rather than coming directly to GoFasters and bypassing their important dealer contact. Retail will be $235 but the dealer may forgo the profit (there will be shipping costs) like we are doing to ensure the GasGas customer feels better about the product he or she purchased and to know the dealer and distributors are doing the best we can.

50 kits are leaving Tuesday from Spain while I have another 50 on order for a later date. This kit includes all fasteners, alloy subframes with the plastic outer shell, seat, and rear fender support I believe.

I have given this all a lot of thought, and I feel this is the best solution we can offer, some may not like the retail aspect price, but its still way lower than suggested retail and it gives your dealer the opportunity to help you and support you. This is considered an "update" kit so it will not be warrantied nor will labor costs be covered by the dealer. If some think this is unfair, call me sometime and I'll give you examples of Arctic Cat updates, that far exceed this problem and they are not giving warranty.

Clay and I have done our best to warranty product that have expired, or may have had other reasons of failure and we will continue to do so.

Thanks for all your hard work with this. This type of support is something I haven't experienced personally and I think we are all damn lucky to have this with our bikes despite the issues. I can't name one other manufacturer that cares enough to work with the customers like this.

GMP did you mod your existing tank or get a new one?

I am sporting a 12 myself, with the plastic subframe. Still holding up. How many broken subframes have you actually accounted for?

subframes

Honesty the percentage of subframes gone bad isn't more that %20 so far. I do expect more however as I can't see the plastic side pieces holding up to all the fatigue and stress. At first GasGas was stating that this must be a very small problem over here as they do not have the failures like I was expressing to them over in Europe.

My last phone conversation again they said "we don't see many problems, why so many in the US?". I laughed and told the export manager (who is 5'6" and maybe 150 pounds) that we Americans are a little bigger than most Spaniards and French, so perhaps its more stress and weight. Then my last question was if they weren't experiencing problems with it, why did they build an aluminum subframe kit long as a replacement? I got crickets chirping to that question.

Ive just completed the upgrade on the 250 e-start. FYI there are 3 different subframe kit's make sure you order the correct one.I was told from M/C there is no Alu.kit for the e-start.But it went together very well.only a few small mod's were needed. Mark and Clay are doing a Great job helping w/ this issue, wish I waited but couldn't.

I thought about heating up the tank to reform it (so to speak). But didn't
I don't think it would allow you to push the seat forward into the locking tabs.

Is this alloy subframe upgrade kit available now or just something hoped for soon?

Did you make it fit or had to get another tank?

Knobbyboy, A '13 tank is required. So yes I put a '13 tank on. The Alumn. upgrade sub-frame will not work w/ a '12 tank ('12 tank is longer). Sorry to break the bad news,I like the '12 tank much better.

Many '12 tanks had a swelling problem from plastic/fuel incompatibility. I could not get mine back in the frame correctly once removed. Thats why the '13 is smaller. Talk to your dealer if you have a legitimate problem.

That could be ethanol related.......sounds like the Ducati fiasco all over again. Now I know why my 12 tank has problems going back on.

Neither of my '12 tank's had a swelling issue. I sure wish they would work.
the'13 position of the petcock outlet leaves less than 1'' before hitting the
Smartcarb. I have a boat load of plastic on sale. (sub-frames-seats-tanks
etc)..

Pull a vacuum on the tank through the cap vent with the petcock closed and maintain it overnight. You need to partially collapse the tank, smaller than normal. I had to do this last summer just to get it in the frame. '13 tank does not appear to swell.

Thanks to all that were involved in making these kits possible. To those that are installing them, patience. Everything will fit, eventually :D
