48mm zochi adjustments

On a mission to get the new bike set up for my height & weight, I've dropped the forks a little to ballance the softer rear. Now I've figured the preload/compression adjustments but how do I adjust the preload? I've got the racing front end and I'm guessing the clover leaf in the middle of the leg is to undo the cap and I find the cartridge under there somewhere?
Sorry for the dumb question, not used to such advanced forks. Only worked with road racing stuff before.
Any help is welcome.

There are four positions for the circlip that controls the position of the upper spring seat. You may have to slide-hammer it down, but by moving the spring seat you'll uncover the circlip in place and the three alternate grooves. They're only 5mm apart though, so if you restrict fork travel you'll also have to go to a shorter spring to prevent excessive preload.

So how do I know what position the spring seat is. Is there any external measurements I can take? And by spring seat I take it you mean the cap?

You need to disassemble the fork to know. If you had a baseline measurement of length from the (conical) spring seat to the you might be able to tell, but slide-hammering it down won't disturb the location of the clip. My guess is that the circlip will be in the second from the top groove.

You need to understand the fork, that "clover leaf" is the PFP adjustment. Do some reading here before pulling things apart.
