Extreme enduro magazine
I like this mag because I seem to identify with the type of riding / racing they write about. Extreme enduro is expensive (12.00 issue in US) printed in the UK. They tested the TM, KTM, Beta, and GasGas. They knocked the Beta for the Sachs suspension. Re the GasGas:
"The GasGas has seen some revisions, but they're not so easy to detect. However, we still love the neutral riding position which characterizes the new Gasssers, and we love the Renthal TwinWall handlebars. Everything, in fact, feels just right, perhaps with one caveat: the radiator shrouds hurt my knee when I extend my leg when cornering. It's not a big deal, I agree. And apart from that, there's not much to say. The suspension is first rate with dual cartridge Marzocchi front and Ohlins rear, which are a treat for plushness while resisting bottoming when you hit hard. The Gasser is not the most manageable nor the most stable, but it does the job well enough in both areas not to be open to criticism. Basically, even if it is never great, it's never bad either. Making it, in the end, very consistent and predictable. A good point."
In summary: "the choice for buyers is therefore excellent - include the Husaberg and we can now list five 300's and they're all good, none bad. Can we strike and order? We'd say no. Performance, when measured, will vary according to test type, and rider type. As always with enduro, it may even come down to additional factors like dealer and importer support. And personal factors in terms of what you want. It really comes down to personal choice, buy according to personal preference!"
Anyhow, if you run across this mag, it is interesting to see all the riding, race and competition photos often with gassers, not to mention all the GasGas dealer ads.
Bottom line for me: I know Danny McCanney would be fast on any bike, but to watch him ride the gasser here in this video means the bike is no slouch. The longer the video goes the faster he rides. Viva GasGas!
