Electric Starter pictures 2011 300EC

That doesn't mean I (or we) like it, just agree to accept it as a choice and not continue to trash it in the forum as no good will come of it anyway.

Anybody know anything about the KTM patent? Is it simply the position or does it the position and use of the ignition side?

Glad to see some common sense coming around in this thread. The BS and negativity surrounding the estart was killing me:rolleyes:

Ya stay'n with this thread was give'n me a headache. I'm glad it has come around and we're all acting a little more mature on the matter. It's funny on what you type shows a person's intellectual capabilities.
The e-start is not for everyone. Some like it...some don't. Will it sell more bikes?
Time will tell. IMHO I think it is a step forward for GG.

It would be interesting to see the KTM patent. I'm surprised that none of the Japaneese mfgs did not patent a good design and sit on it, beating KTM.

I don't know if the KTM set up is all that great. Most owners remove them or convert them to an oil bath type.

It's funny on what you type shows a person's intellectual capabilities.

Care to clarify that?

Much of what was said was done for the humor aspect, not true disgust for the product. It would be quite boring if everyone agreed in approval of everything to come out.

I think that if KTM did not have one GG would not even think about it. Its a marketing tool more than anything, and if its successful thats fine.

Gasgas and everyone else are most welcome to produce estarts if they wish. It's market driven. Personally, I won't be buying one. I have no trouble kick starting. I'll go with simplicity and lightness any day!

At the risk of re igniting this debate, I have been living with my E Start 2011 300 for a few months now, and I can tell you, I will never go back to kicking! I am 46 years old, not as fit as I should be, not especially tall and I still love to ride. Not kicking a bike is just one more way for me to save vital energy on a tough trail and has enabled me to keep riding a 2 stroke. I had on 05 GG300 before this bike and even with the E starter and battery etc, this bike feels lighter!
Every time I get stuck on the side of a hill, stall it on a nasty steep downhill from locking the back wheel, get stuck in deep mud or find myself in an awkward position where extending my leg up to kick the bike is difficult, I thank god for the estarter!
Another nice thing I like (and I know its small), when out riding with friends, whenever we pull up to chat, rest or decide which way to go etc, you just shut the motor off and enjoy the silence and conversation. I notice my kickstarting friends tend not to do this...
Weather racing or just riding for fun, I believe an E starter is an advantage, and if you cant notice the little bit of extra weight, (which I cant), I see that as a big "Non Issue"!
My Starter has been 100 percent reliable (weather the bike is hot or cold) and continues to work fine, and the bike has 56 hours and 2000km on it! I cant reccomend it enough! :)
