Gas Gas ec 300 poor power

Cool. Choke is on the Clutch side, left. Im also sure that the PV is stuck. Will have to open it up in the new year as Im going on holiday now. Will report back when i am back. How do i remove the pipe without removing the rear silencer.

How do i remove the pipe without removing the rear silencer.

it's tight to do it that way. keep the silencer tight, and wiggle/the pipe till it comes out. re-installing the pipe with the silencer attached is difficult also.

instead of struggling with the pipe, i just remove rear fender, and silencer.

The first thing we always do when we get in a bike with a drivability problem is check the compression. Its a quick test and easy to do. If you don't have a comp guage you can pick up one of those little rubber tipped ones fairly cheap. Remove the sparkplug and insert the compression guage. Hold the throttle wide open and kick the bike briskly until the guage needle quits rising. Different motor configurations will have different ratios but that motor should have a minimum of about 140#'s and as high as 200#'s. If that tests good then I would go straight to the power valve like the other guys have mentioned.

Can I suggest that you unscrew the choke "trigger" from the clutch perch and make sure the choke is fully off (continue to check this throughout the testing period) and see if you have the same results, if it is a success then replace the choke with a carb mounted choke. I had similar problems and it was totally random - the choke was turning itself on and off and ruche ing everything up quite considerably.

Just reread your post ... is it on the clutch side or mounted like a hotstart lever on the clutch perch? Above applies to the latter
