mild pain on the left hip joint

I had a mild pain on the left hip joint for last two years. Recently it is very aggravated and swelling on muscle also. The pain also too much high now. Physician suggested me to operate this. But I have a fear in operation and I want to cure it by medicine. So how do I proceed for treatment?

have you tried to use ibuprofen on a regular basis? it seems to bring swelling down. it works for me anyway. just don't go nuts and take a bunch at a time. slow and steady wins the race.
