New to me Gas Gas!!!

i've got a vforce, and a reed spacer , now the power is feels like a ktm300

Welp now I know one of the reasons the MC was such a beast on the lower end versus the EC. I am slowly taking apart what is left of the MC and sure enough it had a reed spacer I had just never noticed. w00t more parts! Now I just need to put that puppy on the EC.

Still haven't put the reed spacer on but I took it out for it's first real ride in the nasty woods here yesterday... everything went great and the bike ran awesome. When it gets real nasty the softish bottom end is actually kinda nice. Messico pipe survived ride one, we will see how long it lasts.

The reed spacer will make it come on a bit slower and softer, not harder. I've tried them and do not like the result, to me it seemed to lose low end and take longer to climb into the power, and messed up the jetting a bit as well. Its purpose as an OEM part was to increase volume and reduce crankcase compression for a better balance when the 250 cases are used as a 300.

The biggest difference on the '03s is in the ignitions, the stock EC CDI made the bike flat offf the bottom. Have you tried the MC CDI? It should work very well with the Mesico pipe.

My '05 MC 250 came with Boyesen reed valve and a reed spacer. When I replaced the reeds I forgot to order two gaskets. When I called to order the second one it was suggested I try it without the spacer for the same reason Glenn mentioned. But the screws and plate that hold the reeds to the block hit inside the case somewhere and I was unable to mount the block without the spacer. I'm kinda curious why that was. I haven't seen that little dilemma mentioned here...

Looking good!

What kind of skid plate is that?

Scorpion HD from GoFasters. Tough as all hell. It took a few really hard frame rattling hits Saturday you can't even tell where they were.

Thanks for the advice I am going to have to try the MC CDI.

So Updates after a long winter and a busy tax season that prevents me from getting stuff done ever-

TM Designworks chain guide is on
Jetting updates are HERE

Ended up switching to the Gnarly as I didn't like the jetting/hit that I got with the Messico, it made it too much a mid range wheel spinning hit and made the bottom feel super flat. Trials tire going on later this spring. The bike feels pretty good right now, the suspension and everything is working like it should except I am not 100% happy with the following items-

I have new reeds in a cage ready to go in, the bike is a finicky idler and the only things left to do are-
new reeds
RB head mod
pull my hair out

I am also not happy with the low end still. At some point when I have lots of time I am going to wire the MC CDI in, any one have any comment on how hard that is? Plug and play?

i'll be up there saturday to go for a ride. just come up, what's the worst that can happen?

Oh I wish I could. Not yet for me, I have to do house mods Saturday. :(

Bike feels a bit better with the MC CDI. I am still not as happy with the snappyness down low but I don't feel like yanking the carb yet to swap the reeds so I am gonna play with jetting and see if that helps.....

Finally got some serious trail time in yesterday. Cutting new trails and also riding a bunch of very open stuff which was good for burning up some old gas and really clearing her out.

Bike feels really good. Trails tire is pretty awesome, although leaning way way over in a field yields interesting results. Needs added stall resistance, probably gonna add my (8 oz) flywheel weight when I get a chance.

To do-
-Try CCK outta curiosity
-Add flywheel weight
-Swap in new reeds
