Smokin' deal on Sidi Crossfire SR

I've owned both and in my opinion the Sidi's offer better protection, and are an all around great boot. The only downside that I've found is that they snag on the plastic on my 2011 GG. I never had that problem with any other bike. I started wearing over the boot pants because of it.

I have yet to hear or read a good thing about the Sidi buckles, and I have yet to hear or read a bad thing about the Gaerne SG10's. So much so that I bought a pair of SG10's instead of the Sidi's. I wear Sidi Vortex for road race, Gaerne for dirt. The Sidi's are a touch larger in size than the Gaerne when comparing equal sizing, but Gaerne uses US sizing whereas Sidi uses Euro sizing so it's a little different. Gaerne in 11 is a touch smaller than 46 in Sidi.

I was able to try on the SG10's and SG12's side by side, and the 12's are much lighter, thinner, and more immediately comfortable; however, I believe the SG10 has more protection from roots and rocks (for toes) than the 12. I believe the 12 was designed for MX track competition and the 10 was designed for Enduro/Trail riding. More substantial sole and toe box on the 10. Comparing the 10 to the Crossfire I believe the same applies, at keast that was my impression when I tried them all on.

What have you heard about the buckles? I've owned two pair of Sidi's now, and I don't have any issues with the buckles. I've been using my current pair of Sidi's Crossfires for somewhere around four years, and Ive had to replace one buckle strap. No other issues.

I injured my foot a couple of times while wearing my Gaerne SG10's, which is why I sold them after a couple of months and went back to Sidi. I don't think my foot would have been injured with the Sidi's.

boots

I own sg 10s and love em a little bulky but I believe it adds to the protection for woods riding I just steered a friend into a pair. But I just bought a set of these cause thats a hell of a deal and if I dont like em I'll sell em and recoup a bunch of my money Cheapest i saw em on evilbay was 525 I hope theyre a good boot though
Thanks for the lead Dave

Ordered some last week, great deal already had a set but for 345 i will put them on the shelf until my current ones are done. Btw i have had my current pair for 3 years zero issues and fit like a glove.

The sidis run a little narrower than the gaerne. I have crossfires and and sg12's.

The 12's are more protective but a bit bulkier. I am tempted at this price. If you have wide feet go up a half size.

As Jeffs said. The Sidi is true to size. Same as a shoe would be, but narrow across the toes. I have had mine for longer than I can remember and they appear to be holding up really well. They keep water out really well too, until they fill up. Then they keep it in well :D

I have read that the buckles were hard to operate, but then again I may be confusing them with Alpinestars. I looked at a lot of boots in a short time. Sorry to hear that your foot got injured in the 10's, care to elaborate? I decided that the 10's had more protection than my older boots, but I would like to know what to look out for. I'm not trying to get an oil thread going here, just trying to determine what to look for.

Sidi Crossfire are hands down the best boots I have ever owned. I have owned Tech 8, TCX Pro and SG10.

Sidi durability and robustness is much better than Tech 8 or TCX Pro.

I have never had any foot injuries in the Sidi Crossfire in 6+ years riding with them. I beat the daylights out of my boots on rocks, roots and everything else on the trail.

SRS soles are easily replaced with a screwdriver at low cost.

Buckles are excellent.

Comfort is outstanding.

They are waterproof to about 8" deep.

The downside is they occaisionally lose a screw or hinge retainer. The newer design has better hinge clip protection.

I have two pair of these, by far the best I have ever owned. One pair is in their fourth season of use. The second pair, their third. But the second pair came to me after a full year of use by a pro rider. These things are bullet proof, only boots I would spend my money on.

My experience is that they run small, by almost a full size. I would suggest trying some on before making a purchase. I have an old pair of Sidi trail boots (Evo Pro) that are like seven years old now. I got them a tad small and have had crunched toes every since.

xmas last day of july

Got my boots in today i'm a kinda wide 12 -13 depending. So ordered the 47s a bit tight on the foot and my toes are right against the boots with thin socks.I dont think theres a lot of give in them They'll be my warm weather boots I guess
probably should have gotten 48s. Anyway they look great seem to have the same protection as my sg10s
