Some Numbers

All done with no fuel.

2011 Ec 250 E start EE hand guards, rad braces and skid plate. 258LB

2013 Beta 300RR Racing EE Hand guards, factory skid plate 229LB

2009 Husky WR165 EE Hand guards rad braces, factory skid plate and Steering damper and IMS tank 219LB

I think the key is; E start EE hand guards, rad braces and skid plate
E start is heavy, EE full wrap handguards are heavier that fluff factory hand guards, rad braces are heavy and non factory skid plates are much heavier than a plastic factory skid plate.Thats easily 20 pounds. Just my 2 cents worth.

My first set of rad braces were 8 pounds. I haven't weighed my current set. My old aluminum skid plate was near 5 pounds (and it wasn't very thick). I haven't weighed the Mecca I have on now.

I agree. The former owner was a rock-basher. Heavy-gauge aluminum everywhere. Over-kill, I thought, so I replaced them with some lighter minimalist armor. Two rad repairs later, I think he was onto something. :)

I have a 400# capacity digital scale, which I bought to use for shipping when I was running the shop.

In 2000, I wanted to get the accurate weight of a customer's ECO300 (large flywheel).
I put a 7' long 2x8 on the scale and put a lift stand on top of the 2x8; then zeroed the scale. We rolled the bike up on the 2x8 and slid the stand under the bike, and checked the weight. It read 234 (all fluids except for a dry gas tank, and no guards).

In late August of 2005, I did the same thing to my '06 DE300. (same procedure, no fuel and no aftermarket guards) It weighed 228#
The DE had the smaller flywheel ignition, and the engine cases were lighter (new castings for 2001 year model), as well as the subframe. (aluminum, instead of chromoly)

I haven't weighed the new bike, and probably won't before I add guards.
I was told that the starter and battery raised the weight by 8#, but did not weigh it myself.

Good Riding and Bike Weighing You!
