What did you do to your Gas Gas today?

Seen that bike in person. Very nice bike. Now when are all us PNW GasGas riders going to ride together? Over the last year there has been a good new handful of bikes purchased in this area!!!!

Gonna have to be soon, because all my KTM friends. Which there are many, keep giving me grief. :D 4T are also dropping like flies up here.

I finished my chassis and linkage rebuild and plastics upgrade, man with kids it has taken me a hell of a lot longer than i ever would have guessed!!

PS one thing i have noticed is that new plastics and bits of bling actually make the frame and engine look much older :-(

That is some serious fencing. What is it keeping out? Or is it keeping your kids in?

Oh, and I started stripping the bike down for a full chassis refresh. So far new headstock bearings (WOW were the old ones rusted and pitted out) and sorting out wiring and odds and sods that I have neglected over the last nine months.

absolutely nothing!! i have been burgled 4 times since i have been here - sneaky bugger cut the fence each time and stitched it up again when he left with money from my wifes purse (always made sure he left a little bit), and frozen food. smart crook had us thinking we were going nuts ... i could have sworn i had xxx in my wallet yesterday!

Sorry for your loss but could not help but laugh thinking you were going nutz and actually you were being robbed.
Sort of like what our government does to us.
Making us think we are better off while working harder for less.....

Big mean dog that will keep them out.

Truck

Well in a round about way this is for my Gasser- bought a truck today, so i could go riding more regularly, and get there quicker. I love my vw van,but before every trip, i needed to check over everything. And i could only cruise at 60mph.

Also raced my first xc mountain bike race yesterday,so i am hoping at some point. i will be able to ride harder, for more than the first 15min. Got a long way to go,but its a start.

Did you find a series, or just a local fun-type race? I know from experience staying with the pedals when you're off the MC will certainly help with endurance. I've spent the last couple of weeks in my local MTB trails riding around, with a chainsaw on my back, keeping the blowdown cleared out.:D I know, off topic...sorry.

LHRB on a budget

A teaser, I've been working on a LHRB setup that won't break the piggy bank. Third setup works great so far, I'm working on a different bracket at the moment with machinist buddy of mine. Looks a bit crude at this point but it will lock the rear tire at 3rd gear speeds.....more to come

Looking forward to it.

Thats great! :)

Where to start.......the mighty 99 EC200 has been stripped down to the frame....time for it's mid life rebuild:D After 13 years of ownership I think it's due to finally split the cases and replace some bearings....Dose it need it??? Don't know....we'll find out once we're in there!

It ran great the last time I rode it!.....OEM crank bearings......OEM rod and big end bearings.... Clutch......OEM clutch basket as well....I've replace the clutch pack about 5 years ago!!!! This bike has been trail ridden and race over it's life time!

What have I done......

Messico pipe was sent to Pacific Crest Pipe repair- dents removed

Ohlins Shock- Eric DuCray @ Nor Cal KTM is a great guy and fellow D-36 racer along with 5 time ISDE medal awards to his credit....suspension guru as well. Shock was rebuilt and I've increased the spring rate.

Forks...are next! Going to increase spring rate as well and install new seals, bushings and dust wipers.

I have replaced all the rocker and swingarm seals along with the those (6)thin washers...Motion Industries had the seals and washers....in stock! Gotta love that..... After cleaning and inspecting the bearings I found no reason to replace them at this time. I use http://wurthusa.com/web/en/website/index.php Sig 3000 grease and by far out last any other grease I've ever used, and it show with regards to bushing and bearing wear. No rust on the bushings and there was still plenty of grease in the bearings.

Replaced shock lower end bearing and bushing.

New chain - Non "o"ring Primary Drive chain from RMATV/MC. I've read some good reviews on this product and based upon the reviews and price...she'll work just fine for me.

Lower triple clamp w/ stem is at the machine shop getting a heli-coil installed....broke the middle lower bolt pinch bolt...not sure how that happend. I use a top quality anti-seize on all fasteners where dissimilar metals are in contact...I guess this took place..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_corrosion

I have a bare frame sitting on the stand......debating on having it powder coated???? If I do, not sure what color? Red? Black? Silver? or leave it nickel plated. I have very little rust on the frame, the only area that has some degrading is around the extream lower area where the craddle tubes join the suspension rocker.

At one point I was thinking about a converting over to the newer style plastic kit??? But then it would take away "cool factor" from being a older GasGas...

I have a TM chain guide that I'm going to install as well. I am giving up on the old GG guide....it time to move on to a more robust unit.

My plan is to soda blast all the OEM hardware and fastners.

I may start a new thread on this rebuild......

I stood there in the garage after work (in the dark/moonlight glistening on the plastic) and fanaticized of letting her eat raw fuel in the plowed field next door (in the dirt though, without the snow), then the wife shouted outside "is the toilet fixed yet"?
Soon my precious
soon
