what is eta of 300 estart

September.
Minor plastic changes and different graphics.

Thats good news. Means owners are liking the 12 and no major negative feedback.

I had heard that the 2 piece shrouds aren't working out. So hopefully the design of the shroud plastic and how it mounts will change.

Heard some rumbling about the seat seems a bit thin in the midsection where your boots grab. I haven't rode one just sat on one so I could not really tell. They sure look sweet in person.

I was told that they were changing the way the two piece shrouds go together. The front connector has two little metal clamps that can go missing when you catch the shroud on something. The back connector is two little sheet metal screws that seem to work ok.
The seat is pretty thin. I'm trying to stand up more so when I feel the seat it reminds me to get my big behind up off the seat. I think Enduro Engineering will have a seat pretty soon.

None. Everyone got tired of waiting went out and bought a different brand.

Thats a bit negative mate.. But I can also hear what you're saying and see where you're coming from. We knew right from the start that the Gassers would be early 2012 which is cool, but as we begin to approach mid year and most other brands start dropping hints on what they have in store for 2013 anyone who ordered a Gasser is still waiting. I'd be pretty devistated for sure.

I don't get it. Theres already used ones for sale in the UK but the US didn't even get a shipment yet (250s anyway). Is it that there is no demand for gasgas here? It seems like there will be less than 100 total bikes imported. The local husky dealer sells more bikes then that. And his shop is in his backyard. Maybe gasgas needs better dealers or a better importer.:D

LOL.. I don't think you're going to catch anyone with that baited hook around these parts.. Hahah! I'm in Australia, but we are very much in the same position that the first shipments have arrived but we're still waiting on some more. I was ready to buy a 200R but with not ETA available I dropped that plan. I'm sure I'm not the only one which falls in line with what you're saying.

When you consider the size of the GG factory and the number of bikes they're building, and the destinations they ship to, then its easy to see how the delays come. Especially when they face hiccups with design like the airbox, and possible supply issues from 3rd parties. Random carbs (36/38mm) in 2011. Husky ala BMW is a lot bigger company as a whole so have more push and pull when it comes to getting things done. I still love my gasser and wouldn't hesitate to buy another but I think a big part of their marketting would be to get bikes available with the rest of the manufactures. Even if they have to skip a year to get back on track.

Joedirt, just curious is RICHARD your middle and HEAD your sir name? While we are considering maybe's, maybe you could find another forum on which to be a RICHARD HEAD? Maybe if you had been keeping up, you would know the why of the delay? If the bike is good that is all that really matters, and by the way the bike is great. If you want another bike thats fine, but there isn't a better Enduro/ Cross Country 2 stroke on the market, I've ridden all the new bikes. If you need a better dealer we can make suggestions, as for importers it doesn't get any better than the we've got.

Easy there boyscout!!! I can't buy a new bike if dealer didn't get it yet. I waited as long as i could but the enduro/hare scramble season started over a month ago and i had to buy something else.

It is funny how sensitive some guys on this forum are.

I am sure Clay is really pissed about the delay. All he can really do is relay the best info available and hope for the best. To be honest if I had ordered a bike 3 months ago and still did not have a clear ETA I would prolly bail.

A guy I ride with ordered his about 3months ago and still no word. I am not sure how much longer before he just gets a new 2013 KTM.

Can't disagree with a word here! I think Clay has done an almighty job of handling things with the level of expertise he has. I'm not bagging anyone out, but as a buyer if you can get a 2012 EC300 or a 2013 300EXC, at the same time, for near enough the same price then its kind of changes the way the cards fall on the table.

The good news is that everyone who has managed to get their new bikes have only good things to say about them so it very well could be worth the wait.

Simple solution...

Clay can poll his dealer/buyer network to see who still wants a 2012 bike in May and who is willing to wait for the 2013s to come in the fall. Adjust the current shipment to compensate.

Given the odd race schedule in Arizona (no races after May), I can be very flexible.

I understand the delay stinks, but why would anyone blame or call out the dealers or importer for a factory problem? We've been keep up to date on all of this from the moment it occurred. Be mad at Gas Gas if you want, but if they had released a substandard product then that fiasco would have been far worse. I think it shows their commitment to the quality of the product and not just the bottom line. Oh no, I've just realized I've drank the Kool Aide. Maybe I'm not that upset about it because i love the 2011.

It is funny however that as soon as some of the smarter fellows here (myself not included, I'm one of the glass lickers) saw and heard of the cartridge filter design they scoffed at the idea immediately. Now look where we are at...

I guess my question is: Is Gary still a Gas Gas dealer? If so, all will be well.

Absolutely he is still a dealer. We are supporting Keith Sweeten out in the west and in EX and we are shipping Keith's bike to Gary. We did not terminate his dealership.

We have had bikes on order since last fall that Gas Gas still hasn't delivered and we need to be replaced?
Boyscout makes a very valid point.....GG could have released the bikes with the airbox problem. We would be recalling bikes for that problem and JoeDirt would have something else to complain about. :D back at ya!
The original plan was for 600 units this year here in the US. The later it got in the year, the smaller that number got. It still is above 100 units but I don't want new 2012s here in June.

IMO, that was a very kind and dignified response on Clay's part, consider he was basically called out to be fired.

FWIW, as an engineer I smelled a rat from the beginning and never liked the flat filter idea. A little too narrow focus functionally(ISDE, WEC?) for a production bike for the masses. While waiting so long for a bike sucks, I'm glad it will not be in my bike. Not only would GG have to recall bikes for design changes including subframe, but just think of all the claims thrown their way for blown and worn out motors from a leaking air filter design.

As an epidemiologist, I smelt a rat as well.

The chi-square was whack causing me to lack confidence in the confidence interval.

Mike,
I'm sorry to don't agree with this decision but you don't know all of the details.
Clay

I know both of these guys personally. Will do business with both, will ride with them both. All I know, is I sure hope that Gary is still a Gas Gas dealer.

I also hope that Gas Gas flourishes and that having Richard as a dealer will accelerate the growth of the brand. We live in KTM country (pun intended, there is a local dealer by that name), and KTM's rule the land. They are a great bike, with a fantastic dealer. Hard to compete with. If Gas Gas starts competing for sales in this area in a big way (and it should) I would probably look back on my comments and say that although I don't like seeing my friend shafted, it was a good business decision, and the greater good was achieved. Until then, I feel bad for my friend Gary, and hope that my other friend, Richard, understands what happened.
