What to expect for 2016?

They are probably waiting to the point where they can bid on different portions. While some may want the factory some will want the intellectual property. While everyone is waiting for the Spanish government to realize they will be stuck with the dept. If someone is too eager to pick up 100% of the operation then the government will try to transfer the dept to the new owner. Gas Gas may not be mostly dead enough. You want company X to buy the building and company Y to buy the intellectual property and then they merge to shed the dept. The government just wants to feel that everyone is dealing with good faith.

While the factory is important with today's tech a copy of all the CAD files of the parts is all that is needed. At this point someone could probably 3D print a dirt bike.

You really want this to look like a yard sale, that way the government feels like they did the correct thing.

P.S. We should start a kick starter campaign for the tech.

Not to poke a dead horse, but this has nothing to do with capitalism. The Spanish government wouldn't have any debt in or any part in a poorly managed company in a capitalistic environment. The fact the state government is involved goes against the principals of capitalism. Yes, just like GM and the banks the US gov stepped in and 'saved'.

Real capitalism would have allowed a failing company too fail. If a company can't pay its bills it deserves to fail. But central government control likes to pick winners and losers under the guise of 'the greater good', when its really about buying the votes of the Union members.

If the government hadn't gotten involved GG would have been purchased by a knew owner years ago and maybe reorganized to be a business (I.e. make more money than you spend).

The way I read it ScottyR was saying that if GG was to lose the factory in the proceedings they would be all but dead. Not that it was the case at the moment (inconceivable!).

Correct. I am just saying that a company like Sherco may decide it is worth it to them to buy the factory or even possibly the entire operation and just close the GG part down to eliminate some of their competition. Is the replacement parts business really that good? You already said it, most of the parts are commonly used parts in the industry. All of the common money making parts can already be sourced from places other than the Factory.

I am not saying it is dead. Life support - yes. Dead. No.

I'll say thet If it stays in Spain dead. Gas Gas will never have any consumer confidence if it remains in Spain. BTW..Doesnt Sherco make most of theiir bike in France.

Sherco builds their enduro bikes in France and trials in Spain so they have seemed to have figured out a way to deal with the Spanish labor forces.

Buy the nice new GG factory and build your trials bikes there and get rid of your #1 competitor at the same time. Makes total sense to me if I was Marc Tessier.

IIRC the geography is such that the French Sherco and the Spanish GasGas aren't much farther than a stone's throw apart.

As to the spare parts, GasGas 'may' own the intellectual property but the suppliers 'may' own the tooling, and depending on how the contracts were written the suppliers 'may' be free to produce and market the parts directly in the case of dissolution of the GasGas business.

Geoff Aaron

Does anyone know if he raced endurocross in Sacramento in Sept? He isn't listed in the Men's main event results on endurocross.com...

Geoff will be at the remaining Enduro X on his Gas Gas. He missed the one round to attend a trials event on the same weekend.
