Dirt Bike Gas Gas article

Also, the reason you see so many guys here with older bikes still running well is the few extra lbs. in that sand cast motor. In reality, the average amature racer/rider that has to keep a bike for a few years is better served with this compromise than he realizes. If you weren't constantly reminded about the weight by critics you wouldn't even think about it. Thats how it was back in '00, magazine tests were rare, and no one complained about weight. The common theme you did hear though was how fast it turned.;)

Amen to that! I WANT them to keep the sandcast motor. I buy a new bike every 2 or 3 years BUT I keep my old ones. I like good stuff THAT LASTS.:D

In the next Dirt Rider there will be a test on the 2013 250 and 300. DR is also working on a 300cc 2T shootout now which will include the GG.
I don't have the money to spend for ads with any of the big mags but I feel like DR will be most likely not to let that cloud their judgement.

Weight is totally over rated. You want a light feeling bike, reduce the rotating mass (get a 125!). You want to go fast all day, pick a bike with a good chassis (in my opinion, TM is the best handling, regardless of size) and suspension. I don't understand the reviews with folks bagging on the GG300 for being too heavy, I sure never have noticed it.

The 300 2t test I want to see would have Beta GasGas Husaberg KTM Sherco and TM in it. Likin' the looks of that new Beta pretty much... and if GG did well in my wish/test, that would be impressive.

Its so hard to pick a clear winner in all of those bikes. They all have pro's and all have con's. Some will favour some riders, others not so much. I do enjoy having a good read and hearing others opinions but in the end thats all that they are and seat time is whats required to know if a certain bike will work for you or not. So whens the article out?? :D

That's why I am doing more demo rides and less support riders.

I believe we would all be better served if the mags did not do shootouts. It would be better if they just had a few riders of various ability test a single model and give their feedback. Many of the bikes are so different in their feel and handling that their just different but may exel in their own environment. With a shootout they usually don't vary the environment too much. It also makes it harder to favor an advertiser if you only test one bike at a time.

Good business sense there Clay. With exotics like GG and Sherco its essentially the best way to push them. You can have people racing them, winning races, flashy adverts etc but at the end of the day they are still a botique brand and while all the media exposure can generate awareness of the brand, it needs to be experienced to truly be understood. On that subject I'm always keen to whore my own bike out to others. Surprisingly, none have commented on the weight of it.
