Favorite Pre-Mix Oil

Castrol TTS @ 50:1 works mint in a 300
Stay away from Motul 800 in anything over a 200 it works best in 80,s & 125's on a MX track
:D:D:D:D

Changed from Motul 800 to 710 & got less spooge dribble.Ran out & used a mates Castrol TTS & have stayed with it.The dye is easy see once mixed(Did I mix this gas? Yeah, nah,Yeah, not sure, put it in the wifes car to be safe).

its also easier to see thru the "transparent" tank sides, smells decent, and only drools enough to let you know that some oil survived the burn.ideal;)

+1 on the TTS. I remember when i was a kid the TTS was in a trick can. I could only afford the Super TT povvo bottle.....

Yer same mate
When I was a youngster TTS was out of my price range
But I've been running it since my IT200 days

May be and old thread, buy does anyone know about bendzall 460 "green label"? Its a castor oil.

Firm sold it as a final-sale due to closing the Shop at 3,60? / liter. The oil is widely used in karting,as the klotz and maxima 927, al being castor-based.

Castor tends to gym up rings and PVs, and maybe i should mix the bendzall with other synthetic oils in the premix?

Opti-2@50:1

I'm part of a maintenance team for non-automotive equipment in a municipality of over 1 million people. We have hundreds of 2 stroke implements that are used in terrible conditions. Rescue saws, urban forestry equipment, etc. The stuff used for emergency utility repairs are absolutely brutalized, premix ratios are often close enough, these are machines that are often full throttle the moment they start. -35C to +35C, rain, snow, mud, occasional partially submerged use (not kidding). Other machines are WOT through multiple tanks of fuel all day, week after week. Although the machines are spec'd for 50:1 we use them at 70:1 successfully per Opti's claims. It's thousands of hours each year of hard use and I have yet to see a machine fail, or wear out early, because of oil related performance. This experience quantifies the oil as a good performer to me, and I suspect it's good enough to run in my dirt bike :D

GRO off road 1 for me in my 15 ec300 @45:1 and my 11 txt300 @80:1.
My old 2010 ec300 sold with 565hrs without crank work, only top ends every 100 hrs.
I'm sticking with it!:D

Wet Stuff pleasure lube.
You have to run it 4:1 and it cost $30 for a 100ml tube but c'mon, what price sangfroid imperturbability?

I had been using one of the Maxima oils but changed to Motorex to see if it cut down on the spooge. Then I found out my PV drain was closed. After opening that there's no more spooge so I went back to the maxima.

I get a deal on it through a friend, but the biggest reason I like maxima is because when I did a 30 mile ride through super technical rocky single track with no coolant in the bike, when it did finally burn down on the road back to the truck, it melted the piston, turned the wrist pin blue, melted the spark plug, but never seized. Everything still had a sticky coat of oil on it. I think that's pretty cool.

I have a 2012 250EC. Where is the PV drain?

There are 2 drain holes:
- one right above the right hand side PV cover
- one on the left of the exhaust mount

There should be tubes connected to the wholes, that go down under the skid plate

Yep I had found the one but didnt know there were two. The one coming from front is crimped shut. not sure about the other. Removing bash plate today to resolve. The spooge out of exhaust was pretty bad.
Thanks very much for this diagram

The drain to the front, part #18 in the diagram, is the actual pv drain. It keeps the left powervalve cover emptied, which allows the system to work properly.
The top "drain", part #18A, is the vent for the transmission/clutch. It uses the area around the pv actuator rod as a vent for the transmission as the vapors make their way to the vent nipple (#18A).
I personally drill out both vent nipples to about 1/8" id.

To keep moisture out of the transmission oil during deep water crossings, I route the vent hose from the upper vent nipple (#18A) up next to and over the top of my right radiator, attaching the vent hose to my top right radiator hose. This makes the end of the vent hose be in sight through the hole in the right radiator shroud, which lets me know a bit more about what is going on in the transmission.

Good Riding and Wrenching!

Ammsoil Dominator or Interceptor with race fuel. The fuel is just as important as the oil for engine longevity and clean power valves.

For riders in the UK, Exol Optima Racing 2 Stroke oil.

http://www.exol-lubricants.com/automotive/products/details/?PID=62

This all looks too good to be true - a high spec racing oil for around ?5 per litre! If you buy bulk containers of 20 or 25 litres it works out as cheap as ?3.50. Check out eBay listings or Lubetech in Leicester. It is a red oil with a low flashpoint, very similar to Castrol TTS.

Don't be concerned by this, it's an incredible oil that performs at least as well as the brand leaders costing 2-3 times more. Very clean burning, minimal smoke and spooge and the engine is always very clean inside. Any carbon deposits are easily wiped off.

Very well known inside the UK KTM riders forum and used by most riders on there. I have been using it for several years and wouldn't buy anything else. Runs fine at 50:1. UK made too.

Probably just proves that the main brands are a ripoff.

At the moment I'm using Ipone Samourai Fully Synthetic, it's a French brand and very popular in France.

https://www.ipone.fr/en/product/samourai-racing/

I've had no problems with it and it's a reasonable price, but I'm always willing to try something else, I might give the Exol Optima a try.

I see the Exol oil meets the JASO FD specification, the same as other top quality 2 stroke oils.

I've not heard of Exol before but I guess that's because they don't spend loads of money on sponsorship and advertising, hence the cheaper price. I'm a great believer that just because something is expensive doesn't mean that it's the best quality. ;)

I agree entirely. I believe that the world has lost the link between cost and value. I present most things made in China as evidence.

Exol oil is very similar to Castrol TTS/ Power 1 so it may be that Exol are the OEM and the product goes into whichever bottle the wholesale customer has handy. Then a massive markup gets added.

Of course, made in China doesn't automatically mean low quality. There's many high quality products manufactured in China.

I always try my hardest to avoid been sucked in by the marketing/advertising and make purchases based on my own judgement.

Just ordered 5 litres of Exol Optima Fully Synthetic M124, only 23.99 GBP for 5 litres on eBay with free postage.

I've read many reviews on different 2 stroke forums, posted by people who've been using it for years in road and competition engines. I can't find any negative comments only positive. :)
