Merry Christmas to All ...

Well, not sure. I got screwed out of a year end award because of the ECEA club rule. I was 3rd overall in class but by their antiquated rules I am not eligible for an award at the banquet not being a club member, so its a bit awkward. My son and his friend are supposed to receive youth awards so I may just go the the youth presentation. They dropped this requirement for '13 to increase turnout and full series participation. Many guys like myself would like to join a club but just don't have the time to put into it.

We have similer rules and I understand them. Yes it sucks to find the time to give up 2 weekends and the race event day, but withour help there would be no races. There is so much work involved in putting on and enduro and I have spent days getting ate by mosquitos while strapping a chainsaw and cutters to my bike. Not fun but needed. We always seem short of help and in order to make new trails and maintain old ones it is alot of work. If you get buddy with a club you can do what I do. Work my own section and go out there in the middle of the week if you have a day off. And enjoy some time by yourself. It really is not that bad. I have even got my wife out cleaning trail on occasion!!

This is relative to harescrambles only, not enduros, those rules stay the same. I understand the logic, and would like to do it some day, but the fact is in 2012 with hectic lifestyles, raising kids, and many people focused on just keeping their job, it just doesn't work. One big attraction to harescrambles over enduros is its an easier, shorter day, and if you have kids involved a family weekend. There are competing series like NEOC that are extremely successful by not imposing these club rules. Now we can pay a $35 no club fee and not be excluded at the end of the year. I'm most likely being bumped to A class for '13 so it won't matter much anyway.
