New Cervantes 450R and Gillaume 250/300R

I would like to ride the 450 with Yamaha motor. That would be a perfect match for me. Anyone know if any regular 450's are coming in 2013?

Probably not. Yamaha has told Gas Gas that they can not send bikes with their motors to the US. There does not seem to be much interest here in the four strokes anyway.

My budding interest in dual sport would have me leaning to the YamaGasser.

Too bad it's 5spd, and cable clutched (get a Rekluse), and 25 pounds heavier.

Do they do anything to the motor besides the standard uncorking (if that)?

For most of our Arizona "Cruel Sport" rides, I'd take the 300 (when it gets here).

The Yamaha motor is awesome. 5spd is no issue. Clutch pull is no issue, I never notice. In fact I noticed heavier action on a KTM juice clutch I sat on. I use my WR for everything from hardcore single track to mountain Dual Sporting, HareScrambles, and Enduros. You can ride it off the bottom, mid, or scream it on top. Very low maintenance.

The chassis is another story. It's not bad, stability is great, just doesn't turn well. That is why the GG w/450 motor gives me a woody. Especially with the KYB SSS fork. My lord that would be a wonderfully handling bike.....

The 300 is just amazing !!!

And the 450 is not that bad either ;)

I agree Bandit,

I had a WR450 and the uncorked motor is really sweet. I love the power delivery. The only drawback is that it is not a nimble handling bike which off course Gasgas has in spades.

Sure would be a fun ride.

Id rather see a gg eng in the 4stroker,, not a yamaha fan.. well at least not the 450.. I like the 250 but not enough to buy one. I rode a yami wr back to back against my 04 ktm 450 and it felt heavier and was more of a chore to ride.. the only thing is the bike did turn better.. but in the rocky hills it felt like a dry almost. I know it doesn't weigh that much but it felt like it.. and it did not seam to have the legs when out on blacktop.. geared for woods made it much less of a ds bike.. My ktm is geared was down,, 13/52 and it still hits 74 on the road for a few seconds.. will cruise at 65.. I would rather see the GG with the GG mill or how about if they started to work with TM again.. slip that amazing 4stroke mill in there.. seriously.. how far away is the tm plant from GG plant.. and they worked together before.. then maybe they could bring like a 1/2 dozen 4 strokers to the US or something..

Just what we all need, another 450F. The 450Fs best days are behind it. I really hope that someone with some business sense an GG realizes this. Like it or not, the Yamaha motor makes sense, solid bike with minimal investment. Its a lot more advanced than the GG FSR motor, and the FSR worked pretty well for what it was. To hell with new 4stroke development, put the resources into the DI 2stroke engines and be one of the first with a true cutting edge design. It doesn't really matter what you or I like as individuals, collectively the big 4strokes aren't making it in sales lately from what I see here. Is it different in Europe?

Trend here in Aus is moving back to the 2T from what I can see/hear/read. Obviously the MX scene is a different kettle of fish.. but the recreational riders definately seem to be scaling back 2T or 250F.

I agree sales are lacking in 4 strokes but instead of the yamaha 5speed why not a TM engine,, Its not like GG hasn't used TM before.. the older pre 97's had TM mills in them.. Buy the 450's from a neighbor that you have done business with and has a better mill than the yamaha.. I don't think they should dump lots of R&D into the 4strokes but the last gen were nice.. If I had a dealer close that was decent at the time I would have bought a GG 4 stroke.. now I have a GG dealer.. but no 4 stroke.. running more DS runs lately than racing so the 450-525 size bike is better for what I'm doing. It would be nice to have an option besides orange.. may get a TM next.. or keep the orange pig and get a light bike too..
